Was beaten by a nobody. . .
According to the meet website, Webb is America's number one miler.
Russell Brown would rape that field.
Again.
Anyone have the full results for the 8?
1:48.x is the word on twitter from the meet. Ouch. Better than his 1:53.x shitshow, I guess.
So Webb is now just a 1:48/4flat/7:51 guy who peaked in high school and can't win a race?
Don't we already have a Jeff See?

Doesn't this mean that he won?
He should try to finish the mile and at least get a sub-4
for webb to win would be extremely disrespectful to the katrina victims

You must be very proud.

Unlikely, as from what I've heard, Webb is Nick's rabbit in the mile--only going 1-2 laps after the 800.
Dude just needs to keep racing and he'll come around. I really feel for the guy. He's coming back and they fly him all the way over there to protect his ego. It will be a long flight back.
None of us can imagine the mental strain he goes through being that scrutinized.
Back in the day people like Liquori, Scott, Coe, Ovett would not give a rats ass about this time of year. But you can't hide and train. The only way to get it back is keep racing. It might take until July but he'll get there.
It only takes one good race.
I had heard it was 3rd place in 1:52 point. Not positive by any means though.
That's good, right? wrote:

At least Webb didn't let Noone beat him. Noone is a tough competitor.
No, I was watching the live feed and that's the split someone posted. There was no audio so it's hard to gauge if people were bs'ing. Your hostility was definitely necessary though.
I say solid race. Give him til outdoor to see how he's doing

this is a joke, right?
he's the fastest american miler of all-time... have a little respect...
I was watching the live feed too, but I saw something dramatically different.
Webb got 2nd in 1:45lo if not 1:44. I timed the whole thing twice after I recorded the live feed to double check. I'm stoked to see his 1500 next week.
Alsar was so right, Webb needs to race more.
1:45? That's a big difference than the 1:52 and the 1:48 being reported. Does anyone have an actual result? This meet is either terrible for webb (1:52), terrible for webb (1:48), or really good (1:45).
On NZrun, someone posted the results...
800m
Ballam 1.51.01
Hawkes 1.51.79
Webb 1.52.16
Now that could be wrong of course, but if Glen Ballam won the race and Webb came second in "1:45 if not 1:44", then that would be a pretty good run for Ballam, considering his iaaf bio shows his 800 pb as 1:50.15.
Contrary to what Salazar thinks, I think lifting weights actually does help your speed for the 800m...

No respect till he does it when it counts.....the guy races like a coward in the big ones. Whoever handled him in 08 trials should be shot. what a fool to go into the trials with one race under your belt.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
