Yes. He did the same thing as Alan Webb. And you know what....its OOOOOOOOOOKKKKKK!!!!

So while I condemn the article posted on Alan Webb...let us not resort to name calling Wejo for his PASSION that he displayed after the race.

It's not like he was in a race that was on national TV and his livelihood was at stake.

That is awesome given the unnecessary ripping on Alan Webb, who has a lot more at stake in his running career than Wejo ever did. Still don't understand what Webb supposedly did wrong.

Well one example is a college student who drops and F-bomb once at the end of a race he got edged out of. The other example is a professional runner who was never even threat in the race, going on a long drawn out tantrum for like an hour afterwards.

Yes I see your point clearly Wejo has no room to call out Webb when he did the same thing.

You want to know the sad part. Even though Webb is one of are more talented distance runners I don't think hardly anyone even cares to talk to him.

I thought I posted about my Fbomb in one of my posts in the Webb thread but can't find it so maybe I never posted it.

If I had posted about it I would have said, "And I realize athletes can get emotional after races. I let out a big "F***" after getting outkicked in a "B" 5k in college. My coach took me aside and said he liked the competitiveness, but certain things couldn't be said in public. I agreed with him. However, me must have done a bad job of conveying Webb's behavior after the race because Webb's behavior was way beyond an athlete being pissed off after a race or me yelling "F***" after a race. If Webb yelled an expletive after a race, we would just say as much. There is a reason there has been one story like this in 10 years on letsrun.com and that is because Webb's reaction was unlike any seen by those covering the meet for LetsRun.com. Emory has covered a lot of college and pro track meets, coached at the high school level, ran in USATF nationals himself, and Webb's behavior was way beyond anything he had ever seen at a meet and that is why we reported it. It was way beyond an athlete just being frustrated. So we must have not conveyed that very effectively in our story if you think Webb was just upset after the race."

In talking to Emory, Emory believes the word tantrum is a good way of describing it.

An epitaph is something on a tombstone. I think you meant epithet. But expletive would be the better word.

I think that people don't like it when a reporter magnifies the "warts" a person may have in a stressful moment, especially when the behavior is not hurtful or directed malice on to others.

My guess is that most folks sense how we each have had that dark, embarrassing moment and that we can empathize with someone who is made a spectacle because he had such a moment. I believe many would characterize this as frivolous and in many ways a cheap shot.

It seems you are trying very hard to justify this even with this headwind of disapproval. I'm sure I would not like it if I posted a story that wasn't popular. It would especially be so if I thought the article didn't really serve anyone's interest.

Question you guys may ask yourselves is what value does this article provide your reader and what was your true motive for posting it? Was it meant to enlighten or to humiliate? Did the article accomplish what you were after and did your readers benefit because of it?

No, he meant epitaph. Webb was heard screaming shit like "REST IN PEACE" and "I TOLD YOU I WAS ILL".

This might be me being an old man now.. But my son loves Alan Webb. We sat by our computer a few years ago and kept hitting refresh waiting for his American record video to pop on flotrack. I took him to Eugene that next summer and he saw Webb running up a street after a race and looked really pissed off. Then after New Balance this weekend my son asked why he was running so hard on the track. I said he is just doing a hard cool down, using the race as part of his training. blah blah blah.. he's 12, so he doesn't get it.

I just know that I will never take my son around Alan Webb after a bad race because I don't want my son to witness his hero freaking out over a race that means nothing. Olymipic trials is on thing.. that race means something.. But a 4 flat for your first race out and your screaming the F-bomb...

I just wish Webb would use some class. Be as pissed as you want to be. When we were in Eugene my son had a Nike Kit and was getting all of the Nike guys to sign it. I think we all remember Solinskys bad race in the 5k. He was really upset after the race and talking to his mom in the cool down area and I told my son to not go over and talk to him but being 10 years old at the time he didn't listen and asked anyways. Solinsky who wasn't in a good mood cheered right up and signed it and asked if he was having a good time. Maybe Going to College like Solinsky did taught something.. To no quit after a bad race and not throw a tantrum.. I know a lot of you guys don't see what Webb did wrong as doing something wrong.. Cause as a college kid I wouldn't of seen anything wrong either.. But really put it into context he didnt act like a professional. I can only hope that my son doesn't behave that way when he doesn't get what he wants.
