So does every parent who has a child who wants to get involved in the sport of running. I would be terrified of having a child who might be talented enough to run at the highest level if it meant you had to risk sudden death by taking high doses of EPO just to compete. |

Actually, Pete did not defend himself against the second-most blatantly false accusation (the first being the ridiculous one about PEDs). Among the beers that were mention were Bud, Corona and Michelob. Pete prefers after microbrews and homebrew, although he does occasionally have to resort to the cheap stuff when the good beer runs out. Gees, give him a little credit! |

C'mon man, enough with the beer talk. He's not some weekend warrior, and it sort of diminishes things a bit. |

In fact, if Pete doesn't possess an altitude tent and an alter-G treadmill, he could be at a serious disadvantage. |

ok, I'm climbing on the Pete bandwagon. Starting today, I will do his 5k program for two months and see what happens. Tonight: 5 x 2 minutes, 3 min rest. Tomorrow, I double. http://runningtimes.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=19258 And sounds like I get to drink beer too, so it's all good. |

Yes, it's a well known fact that there are hundreds of masters a mere minute behind him who are using those things daily. Anyone considered liposuction yet as a shortcut to getting down to racing weight? |

oh, i don't believe it to be false, pretty sure he's admitted to drinking cheap domestics (bud, coors, etc....maybe he draws the line at miller, i don't know) so I'm openly accusing him of being too much of a wimp to get on the G-train. I may be partial to Guinness but I just don't know if SoCalPete has the mental fortitude to handle an entire sixer of Ireland's finest. however, he does seem to handle LRC with aplomb.... :) cheers, dude- |

Pete, another great race. Congratulations. You are indeed an inspiration. Screw the haters, keep on keeping on. Dave |

So how did the 2 months benefit your 5k racing times? |

I never ran a flat fast 5k so I am not sure about that - but I did run a big 20 second PR on a rolling 10k course I race every year. Even better, I had had problems with the course's hills in past years but this time I got over them with much more dignity. And I am in mid 40s, running for 30 years, so I think a PR in that race was directly attributable to the Magill plan. Esp the 20 x 400 - that is a great workout. You do that a few times, you think you can do anything. |

Pete, since this thread has been bumped, have you recovered from your injury that you sustained this summer on the track in Seattle? I ran in that race and was sorry as hell to see you get hurt. Hope it's all in the past! |

Oh I do he is DEAD on Baby!!! Ay my age it's all effort based...I could not begin to tell you what I am going to get from one day to the next....That's why I roll with it--if it's there I go with the flow if not I go with the flow too. I don't FORCE anything any longer just simply let it come to me.... |
