Hey were you replying to me? Anyway, I've been trying to strengthen my glutes for many many months now under the guidance of several different PTs. I've improved somewhat, but still anytime I try to increase my mileage, I feel tight/sore on my right side, and also have a pinchy/stabbing feeling that has improved but still comes and goes on both sides. So sometimes at least so far my experience has been, strengthening doesn't always work. |

I never had surgery and I'm able to manage it pretty well. When I ramp up my mileage, it can be an issue, so I have to do lots of stretching and icing. But, I've topped out at about 120mpw or so since getting hurt. Right after the injury occurred, I was in a lot of pain, but it's since subsided. I don't plan to have the surgery....I'll just deal with it. Good luck to you! |

Thanks everyone, I have been and seen the sports doc about hip and they have come to conclusion it is either femoral neck stress fracture or labral tear. I am just waiting on results of MRI. Glad you all alerted me to this possiblity as otherwise I might have gone with the initial adductory strain diagnosis and continued to try and run/cross train! |

Glad to hear you are on your way to a diagnosis. My bet is on impingement/labral tear. Reason being because normally, there is no "maybe" with a femoral stress fracture. That is a whole new world of pain compared to the hip issue. I've known 8-10 runners with that type of fracture and there was no guessing involved...they literally were dragging their leg. What type of imaging are you getting??? |

But it could be pubic stress fracture with his symptoms |

I would have your Physical Therapists to check you for SI joint dysfunction if your MRI is negative. It causes most of your symptoms and you will have low back tightness and pain over your SI joint. |

The doc didn't think it was consistent with labral tear and thought far more likely to be stress fracture as was pisitive for all the tests e.g. foot dangle etc. But she is thorough so I getting a athrogram as well as MRI to cover both possiblities and now on crutches until I find out! PT US - The PT checked my SI joint and no problems there....so will just have to wait and see what the MRI says! |

Osteitis pubis you can rule out with bone scan Sports hernia is much more difficult because it is a diagnosis of exclusion |
