yeah, that's why you should always eat fruit with other low glycemic index foods, such as bread (not white bread).

Bananas are right in the middle in terms of GI (51). Glucose is 100.

LOL
In fact, bananas are best eaten on an empty stomach because the fructose will be easily assimilated into the blood without a blood sugar spike. I would try to avoid eating bananas after a large meal of meat and grains because in the presence of fat the sugar can cause somewhat of an insulin spike (correct me if I'm wrong?).
If anything, eat your fruit before the meal or at least before you eat a large serving of meal because the body will be focusing on the toughest thing to digest, the meat.
If people think bananas are bad for you, then I feel sorry for the lack of knowledge of basic health and nutrition in the general public.

I am in medicine and the doctor is wrong...Bananas are good for you.Are you sure he is a doctor?
Maybe he plays one on TV.
Bananas are about the only fruit that can make you constipated. That seems about the only risk to them.
I read that watermelon would cause the biggest insulin spike of fruits. But I also read that both bananas and watermelons are extremely good for you in many ways. I would assume the insulin spike is outweighed by the other stuff, right?

I can't imagine why anyone would think eating 30 bananas a day is a good idea.
You WANT an insulin spike right after a hard workout. BALCO used 30 grams dextrose/30 grams why protein/3 grams creatine AND injected insulin.
If you wanna take a look at Bananas from a scientific perspective instead of the LR (aka unfounded) perspective, you'll realize bananas are just about the worst fruit you can possible put in your body. I would definitely advise just cutting them out of your diet completely.

You have no idea WTF you're talking about.
Care to elaborate?

DON'T rely on your doctor for nutritional advice. Doctors aren't there to make you healthy, they're there to give you drugs.
Bananas and all fruits are incredibly healthy and always have been. Type-2 diabetes is caused by high fat intake which interferes with sugar metabolism.
I regularly eat 10 bananas in one go, I just did after my 20 miler, among other things.

Actually, he's a sub-2:30 marathoner who persists almost entirely off raw fruit alone (and some veggies). Just search for "The Fruitarian" and it's the first site to come up on Google. So yes, I would say he does know what he's talking about.

Because as everyone knows, anyone who's run under 2:30 for the marathon is more qualified than physiologists and medical doctors. I mean hell, look how smart Ryan Hall is! Somebody better send a link to this fruitarian guy to Geb, Bekele, Wanjiru, etc so they can get their diet right.
You f***ing ass.
