I came to the same conclusion a while ago. He's told me he plans to continue his running/fund raising ways. But, after the story is published, whether he can muster the gall to keep showing up is hazy. I say he won't.
ScottH, If you dont mind us asking, can you tell people reading this thread if the article is still going to come out eventually (like in less than 1 year) even if its writer isn't able to get Kip to "come out?" Thanks! ~LetsRun.com community. |

Thanks! ~LetsRun.com community.
LetsRun, I personally only know the magazine and author, I don't know a timetable on the article being published. While I am glad that it is being done, the target audience of the magazine is not runners, however it is big enough that the major media networks could pick up on it. Scott, My major concern is that even if we bust Kip, he will race under his legal name or an alias. When I spoke to one of the race directors who DQed Kip, Kip was very coy about his identity to the point of telling the RD that he didn't have any ID on him as he traveled. When the RD asked about how did Kip get to the race he said cab, no rental car. When the RD asked how did he get on the plane to travel to his race, he said passport. That is just too bizzare. Anyway being bizzare isn't grounds for DQ, cutting courses is. We need to bust him for his running not for being weird. |

Hmm, back up again. And it looks like the last post before it went down (unless a bunch were deleted again) is another one questioning whether this supposed work-in-progress is ever going to see the light of day. Odd. Last time there was questioning of it, the thread went down, and a bunch of posts were scrubbed. That was right around when clarkson kent went from "what have I done to make anyone skeptical" to "ok, I've been posting as both scotth and clarkson kent, and the story I'e implied I'm in control of was actually started by me, but is now being written by someone else, but I'll keep implying I have control over when and where it's coming" This is a wierd threrad. I keep coming back every few days to find out the latest twist, and am rarely disapointed. |

Kip, nice try but a lot easier to just delete the off-topic posts until the trolls get bored. |

Why? Nobody on this thread is bashing him as a person. Saying this story is crazy is pretty much an accurate description. |

dd is right. The kip story was fascinating, but now it's been stretched out by these clowns who claim to be writing a BIG story for a BIG publication. They say, patience, wait, it's coming. Yeah right. That talk wouldn't cut it at work or in school. |

Another instance of a guy trying to kip a marathon.. http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1068294--runner-disqualified-from-marathon-after-taking-bus-to-complete-course |

Relax friend, I'll tell what's weird - your reading comprehension. People here are living in a 'I want it NOW world'. I have no control over when the story appears and have never said I did. There haven't been any twists of any substance in quite a while. And, I don't know why the thread goes down or why posts get deleted. I have no inside info. Bottom line is, Kip is a serial cheat of a Magnitude 10 and we'll probably never learn why he's been living the lie so long. |

Assuming that there's not going to be a story, what's your point, what difference does it make, and what would you propose to do about it? |

Scott/clarkson- I've read and understood all you've written- no comprehension problems here. I've also never asked you to hurry up with the story- I've just stated that I'll be skeptical about it's existance until it comes out (remember- that was when you [then writing as clarkson kent] came out with "what have I done to make you skeptical?"). You seem to be having the comprehension issue- you think that a reassuring post/offer to email you should make me take everything you say as gospel. Also, in the past (the deleted post section) I laid out the various times you/clarkson made statements that certainly implied that you had control over the story (paraphrasing here: I'll do things on my own time...I don't owe anyone here anything...just wrapping up a few loose ends...etc). So this "I have no control over when the story appears and have never said I did" bit is pretty funny. I don't feel like going through all the posts again to find those quotes, but you know they're in there. Don't bother trying to tell me that it's coming soon, patience, etc. I'll believe it when I see it. Perhaps I'll copy this text so I don't have to type the same thing every 3 months as this drags on (and since it will possibly be deleted). |

A sub-3 on an indoor track is not as easy as it seems. Cheating on one of these seems absolutely impossible. Goshen had chip timing/lap counting with a back-up mat. Also, all the sub 4 hour runners had personal lap counters as yet another fail safe. I'd like to know if Kip has a really sneaky way of pulling off an indoor marathon cheat, or if he is doing this one legit to prove that he's a sub-3. |

d2xccoach Couple questions and points ive done vcm in 10 and 11 - after the final? mat at mile 20, near the end of the small inner 'hood loop, seems 30+ min would be plenty to get in a car or even bike on that main route the loop exits onto, trek back to the finish line about 3 miles south while the runners continue north for another 1+ miles before heading back. diff ? for my info - i was several of runners missing a halfway split. always wonder why often see top runners missing mid-race splits - would think more likely to see the mid packers missing splits when several dozen runners crossing mat at once - not when its a small pack of lead runners. none of this anwsers how kip manages to hit the mats on schedule. especially boston last year when, i believe, his 5k splits were very consistent EXCEPT for the ONE split from 20k to half where the pace went from 6:3x to 8:x - I believe - the only mats soo close there no way to advance himself off course - makes no sense. finally on the topic of DQ .. at this years meeting the usual race rules overview seemed to touch upoun cheating without mentioning a specific incident or person. my recollection from that talk was someone really needed a bib# of that runner you felt broke a rule. |
