"decent 19min 5k runner" is an oxymoron.
He secretly wanted to be thought of as better than he actually is (pictures don't lie).
Not to tough to figure out and I only had psych for one semester.

I agree with you, but just saying that in Kip's late 40s ( 2-3yrs ago), perhaps a 19min 5k was doable. Now that the dentist runner is entering his 50s, it's hard to know if breaking 20 would be possible
Of course Kippy came across the line in 17:17 at the BAA 5k and 17:33 while walking at gasparilla distance classic. And To think he would ever be capable of such times is absurd.
I just hit 50 and I can break 18 minutes for 5k. Most importantly, I don't think I am that good. Winning age groups races is old hat and certainly doesn't make me feel special.
Kip's 17:17 at Boston was bs as I'm sure you know.
Ironically, he actually looked fit, even with the windbreaker on, but....the chip differential is ridiculous, unexplainable, and speaks volumes about his true ability. He has my pity and truly hasn't learned the true meaning of life.

I ran side by side with kip today, cruising at 6:10 pace for 4 miles, then he slowly faded in front of me. It was a struggle for me, but kip was barely breathing. I have no idea if he cheated, but I can't imagine him having any trouble knocking out a 2:55 marathon.
How many aliases is that now Kip?
Does SOLKR have a page listing them all?
When will Kip Litton have a wikipedia entry?
Come on guys! We can't let this slip off the front page. We need to stay hyper-vigilant.
What other race photos should we go through? I can delegate each of you willing to keep this going a race to go through. Have we gone though all races on athlinks?
Check out the posts I made several pages back - - there are lots of shorter races on athlinks that are oddities. Check out the Crim 10 milers from a few yrs ago, the Dexter to ann arbor run, the las vegas race - these were from 2007-8 I think. I posted the objective findings on these but they were glossed over except for the dallas white rock marathon which soklr put on his site. I still think jacksonville 2006 marathon is suspect.
Mark Singer's article on Kip Litton has been unlocked (no longer behind a paywall site)

I am Kip. I ran every race, and never cheated.

We believe you, Dr. Litton. Some of us are still fighting the good fight. No man, let alone one as great as you, should ever have to have their name tarnished by baseless accusations the way yours has.
Who is Kip Litton?
Why didn't Rojo start the thread on him?

Thanks for the link. After having contributed to both Litton threads, the printing of the New Yorker story was almost anti-climatic, and I hadn't even bothered to pick up a copy of it. I think mainly because I enjoyed the hunt so much, never knowing what crazy nugget would be unearthed on any given day, and wanting to ride the crazy train for all it was worth. And the article would surely end the ride.
Just read the story for the first time this morning and greatly enjoyed it. A really well-written, entertaining piece.
Hats off to everyone who helped make it happen.
Hi,
I've never run or attended a marathon. Can someone tell me how common DQs are? How common is it for someone to voluntarily DQ himself? Without knowing marathon culture, I guess I assumed DQs (especially among the top tiers) were pretty rare, yet this has happened several times to Kip... why don't race directors just bar him from participating?
Alright guys, the article's finally come out. Let's move on. I think LRC has effectively scared Kip into being too afraid to run and complete a race.
150+ a year in the NYC Marathon.
He didn't seem scared (just gassed) when I passed him in the last mile in our 5k race today. His time was 17:41- hardly what I would call impressive.
1700+ at Boston
