Some moments that I thought deserved inclusion
1) Khalid Khannouchi breaks his own world record to win the London Marathon, beating Paul Tergat and Haile Gebrselassie.
2) Alan Webb's mile AR

Think it's absolutely ridiculous and pathetic that Meb's NY win is above several of those performances. That's idolizing NY way too much. Also Hall's trial win "record" greater than his 2:06:17? Not so sure about that...what does running in NY give you extra points?
It seems clear that the 1500/mile distance is not taken highly into consideration here (as it's really only mentioned along with Lagat's 5000), but I'd have to say that Webb's HSR 3:53 Mile absolutely belongs on that list. That single feat opened the eyes of millions and ushered in an entirely new attitude in US Distance Running from the bottom (high school) up.

Though I'm not saying it should definitely be on there, I think Fernandez's World Junior Indoor Mile Record deserves consideration too.
I think your right too about not giving the 1500 much consideration - no love for Shannon Rowbury, World 1500 bronze 2009? Certainly better than Hall winning the trials.
I am kind of surprised Ritz's 5000 AR wasn't on there.

I think this is the biggest one that is missed. This is bigger than either of Halls marathons, bigger than Goucher, bigger than Deena. I'd put it on Par with lagat's double, which I would have placed higher on the list.
im not sure about meb in ny as #2. it should be on the list but i dont value it as #2.
hall at the trials was the most important for me personally. that was my eyeopening moment not only into hall or the marathon distance, but distance running in general. it really transformed my view of competitive distance running

Hals run at the Olympic Trials was one of the most stunning performances I've ever seen, and more impressive than his 2:06 by a bit.
Kastor doesn't even come on my radar, except when she tried to shake down a small road race in Paso Robles, then retaliated on her blog when they said "no".
I'm going to go with.
1. Solinsky's 10k
2. Webbs 3:53 HSR
3. Ritzenhein's 12:56
4. Halls OT win
5. Mebs silver medal
6. Halls HM AR
7. Solinsky's 12:56 in Oslo
8. Webbs wins in Ostrava(2004) and Saint-Denis (2007)
9. Hall's 2:06
10. Fernandez's 4:00/8:34 HS double
Honorable mention
Flanagans bronze
Lincolns AR
Tegenkamps 12:58
Solinsky's 12:56 in Zurich

Lagat is not listed as a "runner of interest" for Running USA. 4 medals in the last two world championships outdoor plus another one indoors, but not worth paying attention to. Nor is WEBB, Manzano, Wheating, Pierce...
Out of 46 "runners of interest," only 20 are under 40 years old. Draw your own conclusions.

I can get on board with most of that, but Lagat's 15/5k double should be up there, and Flanagan's bronze should be top 5 as well, meaning Fernandez' double, as good as it was, doesn't make the top 10.
Mine:
1. Webb 3:53
2. Solinsky 10k
3. Ritz 12:56
4. Lagat 15/5k double
5. Flanagan Bronze
6. Khannouch 2:05:38
7. Meb silver medal, Deena bronze
9. Hall trials race
9. Webb over Baala
10. Hall 2:06
others in consideration...
Hall 59:43
Ritz bronze world half
Goucher bronze
Goucher over Radcliffe
Deena wins London, sub 2:20
Rowbury bronze
Lincoln AR
Solinsky 12:56 in Oslo
Tegenkamp 12:58
Tegenkamp 8:07
Fernandez 4:00/8:34 double
Webb AR mile
Honorable mention:
Torres NCAA title
Wheating 3:30.9
Rupp over Chelanga NCAA XC
Rupp 13:37
That's all I can think of now, but I'm probably missing some.
Ok Malmo by putting Solinsky's 12:56 in Oslo ahead of Lagat's 12:54 you are outing yourself as a racist. Can't see any other explanation.
Solinsky, Webb and Khannouchi are totally under represented. They must really love Hall. A WR in the marathon, while defeating Tergat and Geb, that is basically superhuman and is better on paper and "emotionally" than any of the others. Khannouchi's London and Webb's HSR are tied for my #1, and I will put Solinsky's Sub 27 ahead of Webb's AR.
I count 9 majors marathons, Oly medals & Outdoor WC medals
Khannochi: London win, Chicago win
Rowbury: Berlin WC Bronze
Flanagan: Olympic Bronze
Keflegizi: Olympic Silver, New York win
Goucher: Osaka WC bronze
Kastor: Olympic Bronze, London win
Webbs 353 in Highschool blew my f***ing mind. Easily #1.
Duh,,,, I meant Ten:
Khannochi: London win, Chicago win
Rowbury: Berlin WC Bronze
Flanagan: Olympic Bronze, New York 2nd
Keflegizi: Olympic Silver, New York win
Goucher: Osaka WC bronze
Kastor: Olympic Bronze, London win
wheating in monaco 1500
hasay 1500 hsr, qualifying for OT final

I agree. I was a junior in high school at the time. I still haven't quite gotten over the shock.
No one cares about imports. If Michael Jordan moved to Ethiopia he could still be their #1 basketball player today. Wouldn't mean they'd achieved anything in that sport, or that it was a great moment for Ethiopian basketball.
Obviously a racist Malmo wrote:

Racist? Huh? Legat, a mercenary from Kenya who lied about his citizenship in 2004, running a 12:54 5000 in 2010 isn't a great moment for the US. It's a great moment for Bernie.
