Areas of Colorado to live and run that are somewhat liberal besides Boulder? & preferably cheaper than Boulder?

Longmont, 10 miles NE of Boulder... much, much, much more affordable housing. Relatively short drive to the Boulder Res and other good running trails. As for Longmont itself, I live in the NE part of town and there is this road( 115th st) it goes past farms and from there I can access a lot of dirt roads. The one downside to leaving here besides it being liberal, not a lot of shade which makes summer running tough. Good luck.
Gunnison always seemed pretty cool to me. Either Adams State or Western State is located there, so the running must be okay.
You'll freeze your a*s off there in the winter.
longmont is a great location if you want the boulder-vibe but not the boulder prices. obviuosly, longmont does have it's own vibe, but you're an easy 15min drive from boulder. there's a load of open dirt roads and trails, though obviously in being about 10+ miles east of the front range there are less tress (shade)compared to boulder.
typically whatever the price (renting) is in boulder, longmont is atleast $100 cheaper per month for the same space.
as much as i love boulder, longmont is a little more quiet (not being a college-town), and with being only 15min away, you get more options.
Wouldn't just about any town between Fort Collins and Boulder be decent? Fort Collins itself, though obviously not as cool as Boulder, seems like a pretty decent place to live and run, and most college towns are somewhat liberal. I think CO as a state has plenty of liberal people in it, and if you're liberal yourself, you'll likely come across them due to some common interests.

Please stay away if you are a liberal; we have too many of those already.
One exception: you bring with you (or start) a business that will hire at least 10 people.
how about something where the elevation is bit higher than Boulder?

There are plenty of liberal places in Colorado and plenty of places cheaper than Boulder. The two don't overlap much, however, except in a few poverty-torn neighborhoods.
It's a paradox of political behavior that those who bemoan the inequities of income in the country live either in slums or the very trendy little communities like Aspen.
Nederland is 19 miles (and 3,000 feet) up the canyon from Boulder and significantly cheaper.
Especially if you might be into living in a cabin ala' Once a Runner or Chris Severy.
You can take a bus to Boulder.
Unlimited trail running, a new synthetic 400m track at the high school.
Not so great for running in winter though. Windy, trails engulfed by snow.
It doesn't get much more liberal than Nederland.

Higher than Boulder in many ways.
What about telluride or crested butte?

Heh, heh. Can you spell expensive with capital letters? The multi-millionaires long ago bought out the merely wealthy from these communities.

I am very interested in Nederland. However, I cant find any housing there? Where would I look?

Look into Durango
Ft. Collins , good running community , good trails , bike paths , parks , tracks , college town feel , you can drive for higher elevation runs , there are jobs...
isnt living up high more important than training up high? ft collins is awesome but it's lower than boulder right

What an interesting coincidence. You obviously don't have a lot of money, and you want to hang with people who like to tax the rich to subsidize everyone else.
Colorado Springs or you might go north into Wyoming maybe Laramie? Just advertise yourself as a liberal, and you will get a good response.
