This is an extremely serious matter, and those people making jokes should be ashamed of themselves. Just the accusation of domestic violence and attempted murder is horrible. If he did it then he deserves to go to jail for a long time and if he is found innocent, his reputation will still be ruined. |

Why is everyone so sure he was framed? It had previously been reported he has an alchohol problem and it had previously been reported that he allegedly pulled a gun on somebody. What is more likely, that he got drunk and actually did it, or that there is some massive conspiracy involving his wife, his hosekeeper, the security guard and the police? |

One thing makes the story fishy to me- what kind of Olympic Gold Medalist doesn't, when he sets out to slaughter his wife with an AK-47, completely fail to do so? Maybe if he'd plastered her over the walls they'd have a real case. |

^That is agreed. One other thing I noted fishy about this story was that Wanjiru just happened to be with another women. Now, this story would make sense if he wasn't drunk maybe trying to eliminate his wife, but from what I can tell there trying to make out that Wanjiru completely lost control. So why wouldn't he attack the other women as well? This is a really fishy case here and I really think he was framed. |

I would imagine only about half of the content of the articles are true. But which half? I practice criminal defense for a living, and I can tell you that the newspapers NEVER get the initial stories right, and that there are always at least two or three sides to every tale. That's true in Kenya, just as it is in the US. Now if someone can get a hold of the charging documents, the witness statements, the police photographs and the arrest reports, and publishes them here, then we can read them and have a better sense of what is going on (although even then, you have to take those documents with a grain of salt), but at least we'd all know what the allegations are based on. But sensationalistic newspaper stories rarely give the truth. Until then, everything is just speculation and conjecture. |

^And how would you know this???The whole other women thing is just really fishy to me. And it would seem to be a nice "fit" in to the story, but if you really think about it it just made the puzzle more complicated for Wanjiru's wife and anyone else involved. The only thing I think that Wanjiru might have done was own that rifle, which he will probably get a severe fine for($3,000,000 shillings) but otherwise I think he will escape mostly unscathed. |

Why is everyone convinced he was framed? I'm not so sure, and I'm a HUGE Sammy fan. He was drunk and upset and messed up big time. But this is Kenya, a hugely corrupt country, and Sammy is famous and wealthy. While the charges are serious, besides the guards face and hand, no one was physically hurt. The guard will be paid well, and the wife will forgive him eventually. Sammy will be given some mundane form of punishment, hopefully smarten up and be on the roads in due course. No frame up, simple domestic drama, no shots fired..all will end well! (If Kobe can get away with it you can bet Wanjiru can, on a simpler charge.) Watch and observe. |

Well well, here we go again ! Violence in kenya ! Look Kenya is a strange place to an American. I know one Kenyan who has outstayed his visa because the last time he went home his wife was with another man, and that man and two of his friends nearly beat him to death. As for world class athletes not drinking Ha! There was a kenyan who came to America in the 90's he won every race he was in and did'nt get to the hotel until 4 in the morning before every race drunk as a skunk, his compatriots would take his shoes off, throw him in bed, wake him up in time for the race, and he would beat all of them - they got tired of it ! A women in kenya (niarobi) was wearing a tank top, was raped by three men the judge let them off saying the woman was asking for it by her innapropriate clothing. Kenyans many of them believe in and practice witchcraft. They are very cunning and it would'nt suprise me if he was swet up; but if he was drunk maybe he did the deed. At any rate he should move to America, set a new American Marathon record then all will be forgotten and he can legally own a gun or hire armed gaurds to protect him. |

True, a lot of Kenyan runners can drink you yanks under the table, and Sammy being a known drunk in that drunkard town of Nyahururu makes this plausible. Having earned some change, looks like Sam was looking to dump plain wife Teresa for the new hot, young piece he was carrying on with. Why is this so hard for Americans to believe? Women advocate groups are already screeching about the problem of domestic violence in Kenya fear he might get special treament because of his celebrity so they're mobilising a bunch of female Hyena legal representation to make an example of him.
