Looks like Sammy Wanjiru has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill his wife. The article has a couple bits of misinformation (ex. two-time winner of Boston, but this is a serious accusation that isn't going to go away quickly.

Good. Do the crime, do the time.
I don't think he did that. Wanjiru is not so much like that anyway from what I could tell. For all we know, he could of been framed. Maybe some other Kenyan runner wants to land him in Jail so they don't have to compete with him?
I might believe this if Kenya's legal system wasn't a complete joke.
I hope it's a mistake- I'd hate to see the Marathon Majors turn into the NBA or NFL.
What's next? Usain Bolt hosting cheetah fights on his estate?

agreed. the legal system there is not good at all. from what i know of their legal system, their is so much corruption that it's hard to take anything they do seriously. no matter what the outcome with the case, i will have no confidence justice has taken place.
Why the hell is he in Kenya?
Shouldn't he be back in japan trainign?
Here is my 2 pence worth on the matter:-
1) As a result of the arrest and conviction he will be denied a VISA to Uk for next year London marathon.UK never grants VISA to convicts no matter who it is hence why Chris Brown was denied a work VISA to UK
2) I reckon the case is exaggerated. Those who are close to Wanjiru know he has been having marital issues with his wife Triza. Both of them married at a very young age by kenya standards.Yet wanjiru is more of a free spririt who likes to enjoy himself with friends whenevr he is not competing. The wife however is very possesive.I reckon this will cost Wanjiru big time financially.
The charges are very serious.
More details here:
According to the prosecutor, Wanjiru came home drunk, got in an argument with his wife and then tried to shoot her and the watchman:
he had an illegal AK47 according to this article:

Could have been framed, not could of. I know, I should have better things to do.

This has already happened. A cat fight, in his bedroom, is what caused his injuries. Just imagine, two hotties, clawing and kicking, to get first dibs for an Usain sponsored ride on his pony. It just doesn't get any better, or any worse, than that.
Who knew Sammy was such a baller? The most dangerous 118 pounder on the planet.
If he did this (and the charges sound legit) it is incredibly disappointing. I never want to see a runner with that level of talent embarrass himself and the sport with that kind of stupidity. Sad day.
dang... what is Kebede thinking right now?
That really sucks, he should have registered the firearm....
That is sad. Also, his stache, yay or nay: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12095635
Sounds like Sammy is almost ready for the NFL. This is how you bring some street cred to distance running. If there were a marathon running all star game, he would now be the American fans #1 choice.
Does Sammy own pit bulls by any chance?
it seems that kenyan athletes are less different from american ones than we thought.
I agree with runn. I dont think Wanjiru threatened anybody. He is surely being framed and it is a collusion between the police, Wanjiru's wife, the househelp and his Guard. This story is suspicious to me because it is illegal to own firearms in kenya. Guards also are not allowed to use or own fire arms even while at work. So i do not know where this alleged firearm came from. In Kenya people with money are always framed, their spouse being the mastermind and because of Kenya's corrupt system, Wanjiru might be heading for a huge trouble.
The boredom of a long distance runner really got to him.
The question is whether Sammmy "surprised" his wife.
This is a real shame. We could losing a great runner and I don't think he will have a Vick like comeback if he spends time in jail.
