So have I. You're a moron.

I've actually run the last five state meets here. It is 3 miles, not 5k.

From a 2011 article:
The Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Lower Peninsula Cross Country Finals will be held at MIS on Saturday, with thousands of the state’s top high school boys and girls cross country runners hitting the track for the 16th straight year. With thousands of competitors, fans and their families converging on MIS, the MHSAA Cross Country Finals has grown into another major racing event for the Irish Hills track.
. . .
Although the competitors don’t race on the actual two-mile MIS oval, the 3.1-mile course (5K) begins in the infield, continues throughout the back woods, campgrounds and parking lots just east of the track and finishes in the tri-oval near the actual start/finish line used for NASCAR races.
_____
2016 results display a 3 mile split time and a finish time.
Ritz's 14:10 is, indeed, the fastest hs 5k xc time ever run,
If you were to include converted 3 mile times, then Craig Virgin's 13:50.6 Detweiller Park CR at the 1972 IL state champs equates to roughly 14:20 for 5k . . . just as an interesting comparison.

Also interesting is the list of people who couldn't break Virgin's record.
A 2011 "article" from where? 4chan? I've run it 5 times. It's 3 miles.

The English invented modern cross-country racing and they don't compare times from different courses. Think about it.
Doesn't matter at all to me, but five minutes of research turned up an article from the host site stating that the course is 5K, and the 2016 official results display three separate mile split times and a slower final time.

It's amazing that you ran @ State 5 times.
That in itself must be a record in Michigan.
.....In the meantime, why don't you spend your sixth year studying:
http://mi.milesplit.com/meets/149187/results/254200/formatted#.W7q_uBlME0MWhy does everyone always seem to think that just because a meet is a state championship that it "can't possibly be short." Just because they claim that the course is a particular distance, does not mean that the course is actually that distance. Nearly all cross country courses are shorter than the stated distance. There are probably some that are correct or a little long, but the vast majority are short. It doesn't really matter since it is cross country but people should not get so uptight about people reporting that a course is short because it usually is short!
Ritz 14:10 in cross country with only high school kids, second is Ryan Schoppe from Texas 14:14 at the state meet in 2019.
