The Boston Athletic Association and New Balance Boston have good teams going for men and women.
The Greater Boston Track Club, that I coach, will be there for the zillionth time.
I am looking forward to racing the 60+ division in the masters with many of my decades-long friends.
And the post-race parties.

Indiana Elite and Hansons are running. They will both be slammed by McMillan Elite.
Dan Murner
Well, Hansons "slammed" them at the Chicago marathon, I would take that over the club XC title.
I didn't realize they kept team scores in Chicago? Please give me your team scores.

Isnt there a rule that keeps teams from forming just to win with "pro" runners like Running Republic of Boulder apparently did? If these runners want to run do like the "pro" guys in the field did and enter not on a team. Just wondering?
Men
Hanson's, McMillan, Indiana, Jason Hartmann wins the race
Women
McMillan, Running Republic, New Balance Boston, Desi Davila wins.
While developmental runners get a rare opportunity to race elite level athletes, this year it's not going to be a grassroots level meet for clubs as now the Hansons, Running Republic of Boulder, etc are showing up with the big guns. Maybe have a division for the professional teams and another for the true developmental teams. Is this similar to a b level East African picking up $200 gift certificate at a local Turkey Trot ahead of a 17 year old high school kid? Maybe it's good for our sport. Maybe not. After all, what's the true intent of this meet? Is it to support grassroots running or kill it? Or is it an indication that there aren't enough quality cross country meets for non collegiate runners? Many questions arise...

The main rule is that the athletes need to live in the same association. There are certain exceptions if they live in an adjacent association, but the intent is to have teams from the same area, not all-star teams from all over the US. Clubs can be newly formed as long as they meet all of the USATF rules. Only US citizens can compete.
There is nothing limiting "pro" athletes from competing, but I don't think there is any individual prize money, only team.
Running Republic of Boulder is within the rules yet a shady farce of the spirit. Every other team seems predominantly composed of people training and racing together in post-collegiate settings. Some teams are better than others.
please quit the b***hing and moaning....please....
this is just like ppl that gripe out old foreigners in the NCAA....guess what, if you don't like it, get the rules changed...if the majority doesn't care enough to change them, TOO FLIPPIN BAD! deal with it!!
NEW FLASH! everyone runs the same course, same conditions, blah blah blah. guess we should have made webb and lincoln run their own private time trial a few years ago....b/c its "not fair" that club guys have to race "real pros"....puuuuhlease, that's pathetic! enjoy the fact that you get to race all kinds of athletes and if bragging rights are truly that important (the money on the line is essentially insignificant), then go ahead and tell all your poker buddies that you "really did win".
dude-
I tend to agree with having everyone run one race, but separating the teams into a \"professional\" division and an \"amateur\" division. I\'m happy to run in races with the pros and I appreciate just how awesome they really are. At the same time, my teammates and I work hard all year (as do the club teams in our area) under very different circumstances - we have full time jobs, often train at night, etc. We know the pros are better than us, but we enjoy seeing who is the best among us -- and it would be nice to have that acknowledged, not just in a \"let\'s scan down teh results sheet to 5th-6th place\" sort of way.
Again, I\'m not pussying out of competing with the pros. It would just be nice to honor the \"true\" development clubs in some way.
The problem, of course, would be logistics - how to identify the \"professional\" teams (# of pros on the team... how do you define a pro...etc.)
I'd think everyone would be used to losing to the "pros" at this point. I first raced some of the people on that list 11 years ago and they were so far ahead that I never even saw the backs of their shoes.
However hard you train at night after working at your full time job, the "pros" are working harder. And when you were a just a peewee runner, screwing around, and running 30 miles a week the "pros" were sacrificing their youth so they could become professional runners.
It's the Club Championship so all the Clubs should be there and compete in the same division. Who cares if they are development or not. What exactly do you want? Is it so you can impress your coworkers and say you were 2nd rather than telling them you had a great day and managed to crack the top 20? You certainly don't deserve any sort of prize money.
so let me see if I have this right.......for USATF championship meets, there should be a pro meet and a "not pro" meet. Guess we can't call any of them amateurs anymore....ssoooo that would go for outdoor track and indoor track as well? Road champs? Race walking, Ultra and Trail? How do you decide who's pro and who's not?
If we are going to have a club championship meet then all participants should be members of real clubs, not just clubs made up for the meet.
There should be no unattached athletes just as the NCAA has no unattached students.
The idea is to build the club system so if pros are members of clubs, fine, that will help the club system.
If pros subvert the spirit of a club championship by forming a fake or pick up clubs for the purpose of the meet, then the games committee should be disqualify them.
