My roommate is banking on getting into med school. He did alright on the MCAT, getting a 28. However, he is not involved in school or the hospital at all, nor does he do any volunteering, research, TAing, etc, and based on what he's told me, I would say his GPA is 2.9 at the highest. It will likely be lower after this semester as he's currently failing one of his classes and has a D in two others. He's also a senior, so there isn't a lot of time to make things up. I've tried kind of giving a pep talk, but he doesn't seem to think grades matter at all. I looked up average GPAs for medical schools in the US, and almost all of them were 3.6 or higher. I'd like to hear some from the letsrun crowd on what his chances are getting into med school.
