I know it is a long shot, very long, but what are my chances of reaching a four minute mile, and what would I have to do to get there?
PRs:
800 - 1:54, only ran three or four 800s in college
1500 - 3:50
Mile (indoor) - 4:08
3k (indoor) - 8:20
5k - 14:50 (very soft PR)
10k XC - 31:09
I have OK speed but not great, I could probably run a 23 200 and 51 400.
I'm 23 and 6 months post collegiate. I usually build up to 80mpw in singles during the summer, then hold 70-80 during cross with 3 morning runs. Workouts are 3x a week and are your normal stuff, 6mi tempos, mile repeats, with a long run of 15mi on avg.
Winter I build my mileage back up to 75 before indoor with a few things on the track and hills.
During track my mileage drops to around 60 with quite a bit of speed work. I do very few tempos or mile repeats. My "long" run is only on non-meet weekends when I will do 10mi at 5:30-6:00 pace or 90 min at a more relaxed pace. Mainly its lots of 4x800, 10x2, 3, or 400, and 3x400 type stuff, but there are some longer workouts mixed in earlier in the season
So do I have a shot or am I tapped out?
