So I'm subject to random drug testing.
I'm pretty skinny and run everyday in the hot sun, sweating a lot. How long will it take my body to flush out the THC? I know the normal answer is 3 weeks, but would it be significantly less?

The more often you take in THC, the longer it will take to get it out. For example, one time user will not take 3 weeks, more like 3 days tops. Everyday user, probably about a month, maybe even longer. Just estimates though from what I've seen. Everyone is different. My advice, get to know the trainers at you're school. They're always notified beforehand and usually give tips to the people they like.
If you only took one hit a day it would probably never be detected, but a chronic smoker will take at least a week. It's better to give yourself a couple weeks, just drink and sweat a lot. I've been able to flush myself in 5 days, and that was after smoking everyday for a long time. I'm 5'9", 145# at race weight, and my 10k pr is 34:20, so YMMV.
Another drug test thread? Here is my definitive answer: You need to understand and do the following:
(1) Everyone is different--the rate at which your body will clear THC depends on how much you smoke, how often you smoke, your body fat%, and your metabolism. No one is going to be able to tell you how fast your body will clear it. Generally, for runners I would say less than a week for occasional (once a month) smokers, and up to two weeks for daily smokers. But, NOBODY can tell you for sure so you should...
(2) Take a drug test. You can find these at Walgreens, they cost about $30. Put $30 in a jar, dont use it to buy weed, just save it. Then if you are told you have to take a test (typically will happen the afternoon before a morning test if I remember correctly), go to Walgreens and buy a test (two would be best). Take it, you might not even have anything to worry about if its been a few days since you last smoked. Just see what your levels are, you can buy some peace of mind. If you do test positive, then...
(3) Drink lots and lots of water (but be careful not to send yourself to the hospital). Drink until you pee 100% clear. I know that they will test for dilution, but it is no crime to have watery pee. In fact, think about it like this, if you keep drinking water, and you keep giving overly diluted test, what are they going to do? Are they going to keep you there in perpetuity? No, eventually everyone is going to go home and you will have never given them a test that is positive, so you win. Ideally, you will drink plenty and take a second test to confirm that it will not be THC positive.
(4) B vitamins and Vitamin C. B and C Vitamins turn your urine yellow. This wont change the dilution tests (gravity and center of mass if I remember), but they will serve to confuse testers and allow you to say "I didnt dilute, look at it, I dont care what the test say, etc." This will serve you well in just getting home after a few dilute tests.
One last thing. Presumably you are on a team in the NCAA or you wouldnt be getting tested. If that is the case, you have duty to your teammates to both run your best and to never test positive. I am a former ganja smoker myself, so I understand the desire to get high. But, given your responsibilities you should (1) not smoke, make edibles, save your lungs and help your team, and (2) not use chronically, don't make this an everyday thing or it will be too hard to clear your system and pass the test, if you scale back to 2x or once a month, you worries about dirty urine should be virtually zero as your body will likely be able to clear everything in a matter of days (so Friday should typically be your night to get high because no possibility of testing until Monday), this way you will not be kicked off for a failed test and you will be able to help your team.
1 week for urine. Golden seal (sp?) and lots of water will accelerate this.
Hair samples take months/years.
Spinal tap: 7 years.
Do edibles take the same amount of time to clear as just smoking?
I'd stay away from edibles. The THC is dissolved in fat and likely more prone to be stored in your fat (nothing to confirm this, it's just a hunch). Plus, it takes a while for the high from food to kick in, and it's usually a tired stoned feeling rather than an energetic high. Smoking or vaporizing is much more acute, the high is better, and the damage to your lungs is very minor if you don't smoke often.
I am unfamiliar with any actual studies about clearing time for edibles v. smoking. On one hand, I'd be inclined to say that THC is THC is THC, so it should all stay the same amount of time. On the other hand, the high is definitely different, so maybe different clearing time. This is why moderation is key and buying an actual test is important. If you use in moderation, even if edibles take longer it shouldn't be an issue as a weekend will probably clear most anything, and flushing with water will do the rest.
As far as the actual high, edibles are different, but I would say better on some accounts, so I dunno, I guess its personal preference. If you absolutely had to smoke, I would say you owe it to your teammates to only do so once a month, and to use a water pipe and VERY good shit, so as not to cause any damage to your lungs.
