I don't like it either, but really -- what do you expect?
The coverage is by a local station, oriented towards a local market. We're all watching from far away, and how many of us are there? There must be many tens of thousands of viewers in Chicago -- advertisers are looking for local, ratings are local, etc. etc.
Don't get me wrong. From my POV it sucks. But in the real media world, it's only to be expected.
