I take back what I said about the last 2k pace (I deleted it) I left out the .2k for the marathon as it's 42.2km They went 4:44 pace the last 2km So Wanjiru did pick it up and then it was Ali-Frazier the last km unti Kebede cracked right before the finish. |

Maria Konovalova is going to get 2nd on the women's race. I didn't even mention her in the preview as if it wasn't your debut I just looked at your marathon time. She ran 2:35 in London so I missed her. She's a 30:38 10km runner. |

I want to hear more about how Python races ... it's really about him today. How could the commentators have missed that? |

What a Race! What a Win! Nice close of the year for Wanjiru whose season has been plaqued by drops and no wins. He has always won his races running from the front. This race has proved to him that he can do it from the back even against a formidable field. A world Record may be visible now but might not be until Fall next year unless he decides to run Rotterdam. |

Joan Benoit went out too fast. The track shows her on 2:46 pace but that's averaging her total time. If she runs the 6:44 pace she went the 5k from 30k to 35k I think she'll take 30:18 to reach the finish and run 2:48:15. She'll probably slow more than that and still break 2:50 which is what she wanted to do. She ran sub 6:00 pace the first 5k. She is beating Steve Jones. He's on 2:59 pace |

You don't think the WR will fall by him in Dubai? Is that because you think he's not ready or that the weather will be bad? |

He looked like he was in a lot of pain. On that alone, in the second-last mile, I felt like Kebede's surges were going to break Wanjiru any second. I was definitely wrong. I think maybe he knew that if he could make it to one mile left, the adrenaline would carry him the rest of the way. The bit about the gambit someone else posted is also true. I don't think he knew that he had it in him, but it was a great strategy that worked perfectly. |

Did anyone notice a couple of mildly offensive comments they made about Shobukhova? 1) Talking about what her family could do with her prize money at Disney World, someone asked "do they have vodka at Disney World? Just kidding..." 2) Referring to the World Marathon Majors prize money, someone asked "how much is $500,000 in rubles?" The answer was, "I have no idea, but I'm sure it's a LOT". |

I hear you Arap Komen. We are one nation no matter our retarded politics. Just show me one Kenyan who is not breathing fast right now over Wanjiru. By the way , I am from Nyahururu. I am texting a friend of mine from nyumbani who knows Wanjiru very well. Everyone is besides themselves. Oh, and jana we won the men's 400m from Mark Mutai (Muttai?) in New Delhi. chemos led a clean Steeple sweep. I can't ask for more. I am over the top but we have to give it to little Kebede. The guy has a steel spine. |
