Wait! Someone on Wetmore's squad could have a stress fracture or be injured??
It's not about being able to compete with Oregon/Stanford/etc..those runners don't go to CO because of the littany of injured runners who never reach their potential.....
Jay Johnson nailed it in the RunningTimes piece..about how they weren't smarter by the 5th year....
a lot of criticizing on these boards on workouts etc (the 12*1 mile) but I think the book of work on Wetmore speaks for itself and injured runners
I think his tremendous results over time speaks for itself more than some book or your ridiculous opinion.
5th place in the Men's Open race went to an ex-D1 ski champ. That's kinda badass.
exactly what results are you talking about...consistently being almost good enough but not quite?? How many runners per year on his squad have stress fractures? But he'll never change his methods
Running @ Colorado is like joining the Army in that it's something that most parents want their children doing after High School.
Joe Bosshard's time puts him at #6 all time on the course, what what!
The segregation of team results is very lame.

The results that say in his 15 years as the head coach colorado he has won 3 men's national titles and 2 women's. I didn't know winning 3 national titles for the men and 2 for the women in a span of 6 years was "almost good enough, but not quite"
"How many runners per year on his squad have stress fractures?" It's funny you make your points as questions, doesn't seem like a very strong argument if you don't know the answer yourself. I'm sure the amount of runners per year that have stress fractures on his team are about the same as any other team. It's distance running, you put your body through great amounts of stress, shit breaks, it happens. Are you saying no one at oregon, stanford, wisconsin, osu, arkanasas, washington gets hurt? yeah right. how many track seasons did kendra shaaf have at washington? where was mike fout for 2 years? What about matt withrow?
To make the assumption that Wetmore's runners have more stress fractures on his team then others is completely asinine. And how do you know he doesn't change his methods? how do you know he doesn't tailor everyone's training for that specific person? How do you know that sometimes his runners don't listen to him and do what they think is right and get hurt? So because someone is stubborn and doesn't follow their coach's directions that means the coach is at fault. In an interview recently he said that he often tells one of his runners to not always go so hard, but said runner hardly ever listens. I'd blame the wax in the runner's ear, not the coach.
Running at colorado is like joining the army, if you were joining during WW2 to become a paratrooper; honorable, badass and the best. So do us all a favor don't bash people with just hearsay evidence. You want to start a crusade against someone, give real facts, not just generalized comments like "How many runners per year on his squad have stress fractures?"
The CU girls look good, just need to find a strong 5th for the girls. And a pretty good result from the guys, even without two of their top scorers in tebo and medina

That may be the most over the top thing I've ever read on letsrun. (And thats saying something).
Don't even try to compare running cross country to being a WWII paratrooper. Its an insult to servicemen and servicewoman to make that statement, as running is a trivial, fairly selfish endeavor.
You're obviously a CU homer, but try to support your school without embarrassing yourself.

Yeah, Jay has all the answers...how many pr's have Jay's athletes run? I think it is a big fat zero outside of one athlete and debuts which don't count. Biggest blowhard in running, with little to show for it so far. Hope he gets it turned around.
