You'd be in West Region XC, you guys lost to Willamette and Whitworth the past few years in a row that you've competed against their full teams. So maybe that's not particularly a good argument.

Our cross program is stronger right now then it has ever been, and I was mostly talking about not being able to compete at conference or regionals.

Barak is a good guy and probably didn't word things how he was intending. NNU will lose athletes because schools are not allowed to compete at regionals and nationals during their transition years. Part of the joy of participating in collegiate sports is the pursuit of championships. It will also hurt their current athletes who choose to stay at NNU as D3 does not allow athletic scholarships.

Simply put, try and help them out. If their team does not want to change from D2 to D3, then try and help as best you can. Just try and think if you were in a similar situation. I'm sure you would want assistance as well.

You may want to do your homework, the GNAC is far from weak on both sides.

I don't know if you have looked at the DII rankings at all but you might want to

check out the west region. You may see a few teams from the GNAC and if you look hard enough you might just see that NNU's men's and women's teams are in the top seven of the region not the "conference"! I can't even remember when either team was 6th in the GNAC. I think it was quite a few years ago. One last thing- the three teams ahead of NNU in the GNAC are ranked pretty high nationally. Thats not weak to me.

Is the school going to yank their athletic scholarships for the four transitional years? They don't have to, if they do, it's their own choice.

Your conference may be alright, but NNU's performance list is more in line with D3.

Why exactly is a better academic environment bad? You'd stand to gain from having a more valuable degree.

Just because a school isn't the best in DII doesn't mean it should be in DIII!

There have to be mediocre DII schools for their to be awesome DII schools.

AND BESIDES THAT NNU is a bit more than mediocre- they spent a bit of time ranked in the nation this season. And they hold their own with all the other schools in the Region.

But hey if they moved out it would keep things a bit easier for some of the back end schools in the GNAC... cwu, spu, msub, uaf. As Simon Frasier is moving into the GNAC and going to make it even more competitive.

"the most competitive"....um, have you ever heard of the RMAC? It's easier to make all-American then all-RMAC. The number of all-Americans out of the Central Region are equal to all the other regions combined. I think it's safe to say that history has shown that the Central Region is "the most competitive".

well, if you go by qualifying spots for nats, I think the west region earned 10 spots this year and the central 9. Since he was talking about men and women, I don't think his statement is that far off the mark.
