The thing I don't get is this: if a dude is walking around wearing just a pair of swim trunks, that's fine - nothing indecent is exposed. If the guy walks around in a pair of boxer shorts, that's also not indecent exposure - same coverage as the swim wear, and nothing indecent is exposed. Yet somehow if you put on a pair of pants over those boxers and let them sag, all of a sudden it's not allowed? I understand that individuals who walk around like that look like morons, but unless they're showing ass crack then they have the right to look stupid.

It's times like these I really hate the ability for local goverments to make their own laws. I thought the south's big call to arms is that " we just want goverment to stay out of our lives", some of these laws thatcome out of small towns in the south are the most socially restrictive things that just invite goverment to control our lives.
Agreed. It sounds like it's an attack on the whole hip-hop/rap attire in this small town in Georgia. They don't ever want to see sagging pants and people who look like the whole thug life. I can't believe they were able to pass such a thing. I hope a group of protestors goes there and intentionally wears the sagging pants showing boxers. The whole thing is ridiculous. Its restricting fashion and telling everyone they have to dress in their idea of a civilized human being. My gut feeling is a large percentage of those who dress in the sagging fashion are AfricanAmerican, some White and other races of course. But I guess the town government is tired of what they probably believe is a crummy low-class look

For the south, it's more a case of, 'we don't want federal government interfering with local government.'
I agree that the law is stupid, but that's the whole point of local governance; you live where you want to live, and organize with like-minded people. If you dislike the silly laws more than you like the combined other qualities of the town, you may leave. If the people voting for these laws suffer because so many people leave, they may change their minds. That's how local government works (in theory).
