just had a check of my vo2 max half an hour ago, been injured for a while and currently working to get back to fitness.
Scored 64.8 which is slightly poorer than what i did exactly two years ago (65.6), current me would still murder the 2008 version of myself in a hypotethic race though (just like 2009 me did despite a slight drop to 63.5). Been running since january 2008. All three tests have been done on a 5,3% incline.
I had a flick through Jack Daniels' estimates for corrolation between vo2 max and race times and intensity of training and i have to say i'm nowhere near what he's expecting from me neither in races or training.
Here's the JD table:

(This could be key though; I was a lot closer to the times back in spring, before injury, but I never tested my vo2 max at that time so don't if that was a part of the difference in my running then and now.)
Where's it all gone wrong for me? Do I take it too easy in training (doesn't feel like it)?? Do i need to change focus from running hard to running efficiently? More threshold running? Do i need to run less intervals and run mor
Or are Jack Daniels' estimates all wrong and i need to up my vo2 max to say 70???
