I had hamstring surgery two weeks ago for a total rupture. I did it waters king on July 18. Don't know where you live but I went for several opinions and ended up at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC , Dr. answorth Allen did the surgery, along with Dr. Weilan who is a hand surgeon, he dissects the nerve during the surgery, to prevent any future damage to scat nerve. I am into my second week in the brace and on crutches. It is pretty awful, unable to do much for myself.
I am a downhill skier, and actually teach. I am hoping to be able to get back on the snow by February 2011.. I am out of work for 16 weeks.
The whole thing stinks to say the least especially since I was in great shape when this happened, running, cross fit, tennis, yoga etc.
I am 45 and female.
If you opt for surgery try to prepare yourself mentally...have your support system in place.
ANY questions just ask...I am at the beginning of the healing process. Going to get stitches out tomorrow.
