So the quote of the day in about 5 seconds is going to be from David Moorcroft who ran 13:00 28 years ago without a rabbit. Truly incredible. I knew very little about the run but have always said, "Some British dude ran 13:00 nearly 30 years ago, of course American's should be running well under 13:00 now"
So this thread is to talk about Moorcroft's run for those of you old enough to remember it. The front page has more info on it.
I guess the topic wouldn't be discussed fairly unless there was the talk of PEDs or the like. I have never heard suspicions around Moorcroft but know very little about him. I know some suspect Viren of blood doping and we've heard stories about doping in the US. So my "hey some dude ran 13:00 without a rabbit nearly 30 years ago" goes out the window if people suspect he was doping which I've never heard. But feel free to bring that into the discussion.
I think from about 1988 on there weren't a lot of people for Western runnesr to look up to and a lot of history and belief in being the best of the world was lost.
