No, why would he purposefully fall on PR pace for 4k unless it was just an elaborate excuse for a workout? I hope Rupp kills it in his next race though, but I don't understand why he would fall on purpose? Why not just drop out if that was the case?
Need an editor for cleanup on Aisle 3!
In the linked story:
"And Solinsky, who is enjoying a career-best year in 2010, made it home in 12:55.53 for a new personal best. He leap-frogged Dathan Ritzenhein and moved from second to third all-time in U.S. history. Solinsky finished fifth in the race."
You could have italicized the first sentence as well. If he is "ENJOYING a career-best year" it is redundant to specify "2010." Moreover, given Rupp's fall, maybe you might have said, ". . . for spill in Aisle 3!"
thanks for the update ...joecrunner
thread # 2.....Is Extremely stupid or foolish to post such a thing!
I knew a guy once who used to "step on the rail" right about time the race got hard. It was a great excuse. He later saw a sports phsycologist and actually turned his running career around. Maybe Rupp can't handle the pressure of other US guys kicking his butt.
Rupp would have won the race, if he hadn't been tripped!!!
I doubt Rupp fell deliberately. But hopefully he took advantage of the situation and blasted a sub-1:55 800 over on the warm-up track with only a three minute rest. Rupp's not done yet.

Hmmmm, a hard fall, but not too hard. He was able to do an interval workout!
I think Rupp took a deliberate fall. No one tripped him. He fell on his own for some dumb reason he made up on the spot.
"It did not appear serious. Rupp recovered and did an interval workout.
It’s too bad things played out that way. He was running well and seemed to be headed to a significant PR.
Rupp has developed a skill for running in traffic and is usually adept at sticking very close to the runner in front of him. Somehow, he must have gotten a little bit too close. We don’t yet know who he tangled with."
One of the most deluded douchbag comments on this site ever...
A new low for the dcksckers that are Rupp haters.
Clearly you have NO LIFE.
Maybe he tripped on the track.

or maybe on the kenyans who went down right in front of him.
You don't read these forums much. That comment is soft compared to most of the garbage posted on letsrun.
Until we see a vid of the tripping with 3 laps to go we don't know what really happened. Maybe Rupp will redeem himself in his next race. This race did seem like a great opportunity to PR. That doesn't always happen at these meets.
I forgot the runners names but it was a women's 800m last year.
One runner, behind the two front runners, tried to squeeze into between them. The outside runner pulled inside at the same instant the runner behind tried to shot the gap. Catastrophe followed. The outside front runner whet down. The runner who essentially tailgated didn't fall but she mentally lost it and got passed by several runners before the end.
Maybe something wild like the above happened. We need a vod to check it out.
Hey Rupp,
Everybody gets knocked down
How quick are you going to get up?

That was it.
The Kenyans fell, then a few laps later, Rupp tripped on them.

right, as opposed to the actual crash that happened right in front of him.

Like Rupp has consistently dropped out of races.
Yawn.
You're just another hater tool.

I knew a guy who went down with 2K to go a 5000. He got up and finished in 13:50. He was a college freshman.
His next race he finished the 2nd half of a 10,000 in 13:58.
As a senior he stopped, fixed his shoe, caught back up and blasted the field in an NCAA final. He was finishing 20,000 of racing over a couple days.
His name is Rupp.
Call Lasse on advise as to what to do following a fall on track.
