Lance hires criminal attorney

It always catches up to you at some point. You can run but you can't hide

Seeing as he has the Feds investigating him for criminal offenses, he would have to be an idiot not to hire a criminal attorney.

I thought every American had their own criminal lawyer anyway?

Lance has been lying for over 10 years....the truth, hopefully, will come out soon.

The argument that someone is guilty because they hire a lawyer is not a good one. The complexities of law is absolutely mind boggling to someone who rides a bike for a living. Going into a federal investigation without a laywer would be like walking through a hungy lion's cage with raw steaks tiead around your waist. You may make it through but would you want to take the chance. Don't be foolish enough to believe that the investigator in charge isn't trying to get a star on his resume by bringing down the biggest fish he can. The rules will be bent and manipulated by thier side so shouldn't you have someone in your corner who knows the ropes? The government isn't some benign organization with one goal of finding justice for all.

Bird law in this country is very strict. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it's very strict.

personal opinion is i think lance was dirty

however i would not make too much of getting an attorney

i am a crim lawyer and i will tell you that the feds will put you through the ringer, and do a colossal f@ck job on you if they can

you are an idiot if you do not get counsel when the feds are potentially investigating you - don't care if you are "innocent" and have nothing to hide

there are plenty of innocent people doin huge chunks of time because they thought they were "smart" enough to deal with it

If it comes out that Lance cheated.. WELL DUH! Thats what you had to do in that sport at that time to compete.

But look at who is saying he is doing it. FLOYD LANDIS.. the guy spent like 2 million dollars saying he didn't cheat, wrote a book called "how I won the tour de france" Then says for 2 or 3 years that he didn't cheat.. and now all of a sudden "I DID CHEAT" The guy has no credibility at all.

I really don't care if Lance cheated. If he did I wouldn't be shocked. I would be more suprised that he got busted than anything else.. He has covered up this long, he can still cover up.

Its not like they are throwing Lance in jail just because Landis has made these accusations. But, there must be enough substance to them that Novitsky and other Feds are taking a hard look.

without a lawyer, he would be nailed on some technicality or misspeaking or lying under oath where he misremembers something or mispeaks. Clinton was essentially nailed for saying under oath that he never 'had sex with that woman, miss lewinsky' or the like and while he was being lawyerly and using the term sex to mean sexual intercourse, not fooling around and oral sex, he was still nailed by the republicants in their political witchhunt. I hope he's cleared and we say that maybe he won because he was as strong as any other rider and conserved his energy only for when it was needed. Take today where Schleck could not break Cantador. Schleck sure went to a lot of effort for no time advantage. Would Armstrong have done that? Hardly.

It sounds worse when you say it than it really is. Of course the guy was trying to cover his ass. Anyone would if they were being exposed on an international level. However, it takes a lot of courage to finally admit something like that. You don't lose credibility by switching from lies to the truth in my book. As far as I'm concerned, there would be no reason for him to admit to cheating other than the fact that he really did cheat and had a guilty conscience. The fact that he is now spilling the beans on the other guys could just be an extension of that confession. Switching stories doesn't always mean nobody should listen to you. Did you really expect him to be like George Washington and at first doubt say "I cannot tell a lie..."?

what's crazy here is that they all cheated!! the ones that are riding right in the TDF now did or are currently doping. if they go after lance, they have to go after all of them. if found guilty, he shouldn't be stripped of his wins because every single guy he was up against was doing the same thing. it was a level playing field.

There was no bigger fan of Lance during his run from 1999-2005 than me. I've been very skeptical of all of these accusations for years, but now even I am starting to believe that the walls are closing in on him.

When you look at the sheer numbers of high end competitive cyclists from that era who have been caught doping and/or admitted doping, it stands to reason that the majority of the peleton was juiced. So, if one believes all of Armstrong's denials, that would make him the ONLY clean rider in the peleton during those tours! Not only that, but he dominated the race for seven years straight over all those dirty opponents! He time trialed and climbed like a madman.

It just doesn't stand to reason that he was clean. We may not believe Landis' accusations, but what about guys like Frankie Andreau and others who have a lot more credibility?

He's guilty of doping and turning the sport of cycling into a total joke. Whenever his name is mentioned the 1st comment is always "doper", "lanced", "druggie","syringe boy", "gay butt popper", ...
