Is anybody gonna give this dude some love? 1:50 as a high school senior, 1:48 as a freshman in college and now 1:45 as a sophomore...Give respect where respect is due! On top of that he won by over 2 seconds at the NACAC meet. UCI's finest!

Ridiculous!!! He improves every race and keeps getting stronger! The future is very bright for this kid!!!
true that...
to bad letrun.com stiffs the poor guy and is all over andrew wheating's tip!
my bad, letsrun.com*
this kid is the real deal. He has a great head on his shoulders. At USA's he wasn't phased by any of the big names. He ran his race and unfortunately was not in the top half, but he turns right around today and impresses yet again. He is singlehandedly putting UC Irvine on the map.

Wheating went 1:45.03 as a soph to take 2nd at the Olympic trials (that's with rounds), all this after only being a 1:50 guy the year before and being relatively new the sport. There is pretty good reason for people to have been extremely excited about him.
No one is hating on Charles Jock, morons like you jumped on everyone else before they even got a chance to be excited about Jock's new PR, which is fantastic.
Yeah congrats to Charles Jock. I hope he takes off and enjoys the rest of his summer now because it seems like he has had a long season.

Could we say "back on the map" because I think Steve Scott put Irivine on the map back in the day. Does everyone know that Jock ran the fastest non-qualifying 800 meter time in NCAA history and broke Steve Scott's school record at the same time?
mrr82...jocks been running fast all year and winning and no one has shown him love. i doubt wheating won by 2+ seconds when he set his pr, so you need to stop riding university of oregon duck tip too =). DOCTRINE.
He's still in a rivalry against UCSB's Ryan Martin (also a sophomore).
his freshman year at conference
Ryan Martin beat him for the conference crown
his sophomore year at conference
He beat Ryan Martin for the conference crown.
They both made the NCAA championship.
However, Jock wasn't able to get out of his heat, while Ryan Martin did.
Ryan Martin got 4th at the meet in 1:46.xx and All-American status.
Jock, wanting to show the world what he is made of, throws down this. wow. incredible. He is sending a word to everyone out there and especially calling out Ryan Martin.
P.S. Don't call me a Ryan Martin hater because I am not. I actually root for both of them. Big West REPRESENT!

No he didn't, but he did it at the trials, at the right time, after running heats, and went to the olympics. If that doesn't help you understand why it was more out in the open, and why people started taking more notice, i don't know what to tell you.
What Jock has done is huge, but there's a huge difference between why Wheating became popular and why Jock hasn't as much yet. It's not just being at Oregon. He had great timing and ran the best race of his life when it mattered and everyone was watching. Nobody was watching when Jock ran his 1:45. But if he stays at it, and wins Ncaa's or follows this year up with something big, people will start to take more notice. More people would probably be praising him if they didn't want to disagree with you. You didn't even give people time to get excited about it before you brought out the pathetic card.

That must have been a really slow school record, because Wheating qualified for the final with a 1:49.
Go check the results again.

i dont think he ran 1:45 to call out Rymar. im pretty sure, since i know one of them well, that they have a friendly rivalry which will be spiced up by another kid joining the big west (ran 1 49 in high school this year, greg dotson)

Everyone was watching when Wheating finished dead last in the Olympic heats. So much for that theory.
