Top 5 Pre-rankings for the 2010 Fall Season
1.) SUNY Geneseo - Returns a solid group of runners, with the loss of Chichester, J. Berube, Henchen, along with some other seniors, im sure their will be some new runners on the rise breaking into that top 7 and making a name for themselves.
2.) NYU - the 2007 national champions, and 4th place finishers in 2009, returns 2 all-americans seniors Schwelm and the miler Turlip. They should have a good group of runners this season with a solid training regiment.
3.) SUNY Cortland - the 2008 national champions will lose almost all of their top 7. They will need to realllyyyyyy work hard this summer and peak at the right time to make nationals. Im excited to see where cortlands team goes from here, either rising to the occasion or falling off the grid.
4.) St. Lawrence - Dan Ramsey, 4th place at Nationals will be leading the charge for SLU. Followed by at Nationals were his now senior teammate Mwenda and now junior teammate Johnston.
5.) Plattsburg - Led by senior all-star Mike Heyman, I expect Plattsburg to make nationals if all 5 teams are accepted to the National meet. They need to have a strong group of runners to solidify there position if not move up as the season goes on.
1. Geneseo
2. NYU
3. St. Lawrence
4. U of R
5. Plattsburgh
6. Cortland
7. Ithaca
8. RIT
9. Oneonta
10. TCNJ
11. Fredonia
NYU lost one of their top returnees because he's transferring. I honestly don't think NYU will crack the top 5 as a team.
TCNJ is no longer a contender. Their glory days are behind them and I think they'll be FIGHTING to sneak into the top 10.
What team average do you think it will take to get into the top 5? 26:00?
Yes NYU did have a guy transfer out for academic reasons, but that "top returnee" has not scored for them at UAA, regionals or nationals the last 2 years in XC and they did pretty well. Schwelm, Turlip, Zitek(1446), Boyd (915stp) make a decent starting point. They had another frosh guy go 14:5something, and always seem to have some sophs step up after their first year indoctrination into the training program. I also have heard they have a pretty decent freshman class but dont know what that means for XC.

Really? I'd be surprised if they didn't crack top 5 at NCAAs.
NYU is a good team, well see if they run as good you say they will preform when it counts. right now SUNY G prob. has one of the best teams in the country and think if they dont win than they peaked at SUNYACs like theyre known to do. I hope cortland gets on track but I def. dont agree with U of R and Plattsburg above them, give them a little more credit than that
Where did he transfer to and is he running at this new institution?

Really? I'd put Ithaca, Oneonta, and possibly Fredonia above them as well. 5th at SUNYAC's is not out of the question. They lost a few guys that weren't just to graduation (not that there were any seniors left from what I saw). Throw in a transfer to Geneseo and a flunk out, its starting to look pretty barren.
Jesus Christ.
It seems like the NYU team likes to visit letsrun.com, huh? No shame in that, but please admit you'll be racing in an NYU singlet this fall.
I look forward to battling you guys come November
He'll be running for Williams this fall, but will start slowly as he suffered a stress fracture in his femur while running indoors last winter.
if the 5th place team averages 26:00 for Oneonta's course, then this will be the deepest year ever. The course is filled with tall grass that has soft ground underneath, and hills placed in there that will zap the energy out of your legs if you race like an idiot.

This is a joke, right? The Oneonta course is as a flat as a pancake. Pretty comparable to last year's course in Geneso..
who do you run for 100 degrees if your gonna be calling out people for not saying who they run for

Oneonta has a hill (not long or tall, but it undulates and can take a bit out of you as it kicks up like three times) you will probably go up 3 times for an 8k (did it twice for 6k last season), and the grass is not going to run fast. It will be marginally slower than Geneseo was last year. Still a fast course, but honestly, aren't they always?
Also, it is XC and times don't matter
Geneseo will be good, so will NYU. SLU could be solid, I don't think we are looking at five bids this year though, sadly.
1. Geneseo
2. NYU
3. SLU
4. Fredonia
5. Platsburg
6. Oneonta
7. Cortland
geneseo top 3 at nationals

Do you know something we don't? They should be happy cracking the top ten from what I see.
no, i will not be running in an nyu singlet this fall... good try. I'm just an old fan of the atlantic region that has followed the team the past few years. They have a solid returning group, and have shown each year that people develop within their program to keep them one of the top teams in the region. The team that was on the podium last year was completely different than the team that won in 2007, aside from Turlip and its not like he was a scorer for that team.
