masters running is a joke. "ooo we can't beat the young guys anymore so lets make our own division that they aren't allowed in so we still feel like superior to everyone"[/quoted

Ed Whitlock would catch you around midway through a marathon, beat you in an arm wrestle, make love to your girlfriend better than you ever could, then carry on to crush you by about 30 minutes.

Ed is faster then most guys on the site

I ran a 61 at Penn Relays on a 50-59 4x4 team and got smoked by two guys on my third (slowest) leg alone. I'm a distance runner with decent speed, but when I was asked to be on the team, I thought they were kidding until I realized that it was 50+, not masters. I'd have thought that a 61 would be respectable for 50, but next to those guys it just made me look silly. The anchor-leg guys were running in the low 50s.

Several guys on my team can break their age in the 400, but they all place regularly in Masters Nationals and Worlds, so, yeah, that's not easy.

I ran a 56.5/400 in June with no training. Keep up the good work master runners.

these people are mostly lying obviously, 43 seconds is the best time on the entire planet earth. i guarantee most ppl are shaving 3-5 seconds off their actual time. 56 seconds is a terrific time don't let these frauds make you feel slow

I've dropped about 17 seconds although the latest one was in a relay on a wet grass track with a hill. Set off too fast and bombed.

Injuries, putting on weight and hardly any training does for you on all distances. Trying to get back into it but every old injury is coming back

I was running in the 57's at age 43. Then at age 47 I was running 59's and 25.6 for the 200. Now at 65, I'm running 69's and still getting into the 29's or the 200. Gettin' slower, but trying to hang in there. I still find it a fun social and fitness outlet.
