Come on Rupp and Begley, help out your fellow Americans and take the classy approach by sharing the lead with them.

Are you just stupid or what - the championships are just about winning or placing, not times! Get over it!!!!
Yeah, it's getting a little annoying. I appreciated Payton Jordan, but that was a paced record attempt. Solinsky, Chelenga, and the other dude made it a phenominal race.
I'd like to see him enter some more big races and have to run like he did in the Olympics and WC. Raping these underclass fields grows old.
I don't understand these letsrun people who think anyone has an obligation to lead in a 10,000. Where do you get such an idea?
Hey Letsrun, Sit + Kick = How Bekele wins the Olympics and World Championships.
Maybe because we're fans of other sports and are used to expecting to see athletes in those sports, great or not, give an honest effort when they compete? Rupp gave anything but an honest effort tonight.

i would call it a pretty honest effort when someone does what they thinks will make it most likely that they win...
soccer players don't do unnecessary sprints up and down the field just to make themselves work harder... why should do anything other than what will make him most likely to achieve his goal of winning?

There are no points for style. Ever see how Gebrselassie won all his world and olympic golds?
Come on Piccolo and Red glare, help out your fellow LRC posters and take the classy approach by posting with intelligence and wit. Sit + Bitch = Cheap, Boring!
I remember watching the Winter Olympics for cross-country skiing, and Italy sat on the tail of Sweden or one of the other Scandinavian countries the entire race and let them do all the work, then kicked by them at the end. Sure, it was a legal move (and maybe dumb on Sweden's part). But it was far from classy, especially considering the etiquette of that sport. I'd rather not see elite runners leech off other runners, even if it is a championship race.
OTC had to lay off the juice. Too much testing at USATF.
The problem here is simple.
Nothing wrong with the sit and kick approach.
What's getting old is the disparity of talent and lack of competition in these races, relatively speaking of course.
Did YOU win the race; thought not. RACE, objective - to win or place as high as you can. Mission accomplished most fully by Rupp.

Was the following skier somehow attached to the leading skier?
In the 'Results' and 'Start List' Galen Rupp's affiliation is listed as 'Nike' NOT OTC. Nick Symmonds is listed as OTC.
Seriously why does anyone think their entitled to have the best athlete in a race put on a show for them during a championship? Rupp was there to win a race and do it in the most effective way possible.
"Train Hard, Win Easy" - the oregon way.
I loved it, 29 minutes to see Galen's sexy bod! Was awesome!
Moran is pretty legit. Dude has run sub 27:52. Bauhs has run 27:48.
Rupp, rightly so, can't take those guys lightly. Although I'm sure he believes, just like the rest of us, that he is in a different class, he is going to do what he needs to do to give himself the best chance to win.
Just like Moran and co will do what they need to do to give them the best chance to win.
I can just as easily say why didn't Carney and Smyth and Moran slow it down even more, giving them as equal a shot to kick in a 55 for the last lap as Rupp?
If I was in that race, I wouldn't want Rupp to lead... because he could grind us all into the ground and wind by an obscene margin if he really wanted to. At least he left some hope that he would be beaten in that last 400.
If I was in that race, I would want to keep him boxed in, run 5:10 pace or something absurd for as long as I could, and then make it into an 800 meter race. At that point, a number of those guys should be able to close in 1:55 (off of 5:10 pace). Other then Moran, none of those guys looked ready to race at an elite level. It really was a big disappointment.
That race was awesome! Tactical to the extreme!
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
