Who the hell is DIEstat?

What makes you think that they'll come here rather than the forums at rise.espn.go.com, as in the target of the huge banner on the front page of dyestat?

Those forums are unbearably bad. The setup looks like forums you'd see 10+ years ago. I liked going to Dyestat to see HS results from my state, but I guess that's done now.

Anyone know of a similar site?

big deal. dye is not a wealthy guy, overexteded, and sold dyestat for a lark way back when. now it will morph into oblivion. so what ! big deal. there are five thousand fan boy sites that are dyestat copycats run by trust fund kiddies. they have a lifetime of money. they live off of the interest. i should know.

I'm hoping they will spill over to letsrun, better for the sport. Maybe we'll be able to convince more high schoolers to run at the NCAA level instead of resorting to greek life and alcoholism.

Back in 2002-2003 I was a senior captain of my XC team and I introduced a few elite high schoolers teammates of mine to

and some of them said (back then) back to me that yes they had in fact visited it after I suggested it to them but that the website looks really old and crappy and disorganized and there's nothing good on there, looks like total garbage, and I can't find anything... (front page I assume). One of them was a 9:0X 3200m runner

After they looked a little more closely at letsrun content instead of judging the frontpage's vomit-like design (and after they headed off the college), they began visiting here frequently and one of them, the 9:0X 3200 hs guy, may be reading this.

Can someone explain what this is all about? I used to read Dyestat years ago.

Is it shutting down? What's the story here.

John Dye a father of a couple of runners made a site so his kids could talk to other HS runners about T&F-blah blah- it found a following and grew- founder was spending big bucks keeping up with the site-blah blah=School Sports(a big company) offeredJ. Dye some money for the site and since he was retiring from his job they paid him a few bucks to run the site and hire a couple of workers--blah blah- ESPNrise the teen sports and lifestyle magazine division of ESPN Sports a sister company to Disneyland bought School Sports--blah blah- J.Dyes contract period and editorial control clause was up and not renewed-- ESPNrise magazine decided to have an internet version covering HS Sports--blah blah- Dyestat is now becoming part of that bigger site and one of a dozen/16 sub sites for various HS sports.

On the 17th Dye will no longer be a stand alone web site but will become part of the bigger all inclusive HS Sports and teen lifestyle site known as ESPNrise.com

the timeline starts back in 1998-School Sports came in about 2004 and ESPN bought them about 2008

SS saved DS from going outabiz. He got a little money but it was a fire sale. The only independents that have survived are run by rich spoiled brats, housewives, running doctors, retired civil servants, running and track cluns, phony clubs that pose as 501.c.3 charities, retired high school coaches, and lawyers, and stanford internet multimillionaires. i can't think of a single entrepreneur who survived relying solely on the income from the website.

No entrepreneurs have survived? What about letsrun's Johnson Brothers?
