This is great... "if I were going to be completely candid, I’d have to say that he doesn’t even do the same kind of sport I do."

that's a great interview
and we can't forget Malmo. Malmo: he be everywhere!
Thanks for the link. He seems like a really down to earth, humble guy who is doing what he wants to do. I wish him nothing but the best.
Excellent interview. Gives an interesting perspective on the guy that doesn't make him sound like a freak. Best of luck to him.
There's nothing like calling out one of the guys who actually has made ultrarunning more mainstream and popular.
There's nothing like defending a self-absorbed douche who has done nothing in terms of actual accomplishments in the sport, but he has saved babies and has pushed wheelchair-bound people across the Golden Gate for the cameras. Dean's about Dean and Dean can't compete with real ultra marathoners.
He ran a 2:42 marathon at 6000 feet, and with mono. That is probably better than 95% of the posters on this board.
Hopefully people will shut up and quit making fun of him now.
I like him.

Yeah, on false pretenses... That's the way I want to make something popular...
Actually he gives Dean plenty off props for his promotion of the sport. I like Anton, he does things a lot like me, except a lot better.
What other kinds of pretenses are there?
Pwnd. lol. I actually like Anton.
let me spell it out for you since you are all gen-Y: pawned. you got pawned, because I pawned you and you had to admit you like the guy since he's actually a real runner who actually wins races.
he's cool, one of my favorite runners, humble, hard-working, and real.
I love how he totally calls out North Face for giving Sam Thompson some hush money for running 50 in 50 before the big Dean circus campaign kicked off. Go Anton! We love you.
lol. This is a winless fight!
i was intrigued with his comments on new balance's new "minimus" line of shoes. i've been doing nearly all my running in the NB 790s and 100s for a few years now, and the trail minimus might be the next step along this path.
congratulations. you just sunk your teeth into the hook--why Anton is even talking to anyone. He's a hermit who sells shoes.

When I first heard of him I just thought he was a hippie, loner runner just like he mentioned in the interview. The interview really does expose him as much more than that. Sounds like a good guy.
If you run 5 hours a day aren't you prone to being a loner? I mean who the hell is going to join you?
