Congratulations to Solinsky and Jerry Schumacher (nice investment for Nike) They need to truly work together with Alberto and their group; why not be the best group in the world??????

So much for POLLEN COUNTS IN PALO ALTO.
LOL.
For what it's worth, I was at the meet, and I started sneezing as soon as I got out of the car.
if his 1'55 to 1'56 finish is accurate, then prelim estimates for even pace from gun-to-tape ->
1'56 ->26'48 !!
1'55 ->26'46 !!!
suffice to say, his storming last 800 indicates current sub-26'50 ability
also, trying
with various 1500s for him ( he has an ancient 3'37 - gotta be quicker now )
3'37 ->7'31.5 , 12'53.9
3'36 ->7'30.2 , 12'52.7
3'35 ->7'28.9 , 12'51.5
3'34 ->7'27.7 , 12'50.2
he certainly shoud go a long way under 7'30 & has an outside shot at 12'50, but certainly looking for < 12'55
Well said. Rupp looked like a sore loser.

What if Solinsky gets the AR and not Rupp? Will AlSal hire a hitman?
POD
To think that 2 Americans in early May could put together a performance, here in the United States versus Europe, that saw both break the AR and one move under 27:00 reflects a watershed event in American distance running. This was "Old School"! It reminds me of back "in the day" when Alberto recruited the best to go after the 10K AR in Eugene versus waiting for the European summer.....BOLD!!! I'm proud of both of them!!!
USA! USA! USA! USA!
Actually, I think if anyone really stuck it to Rupp tonight it was Chelanga not Solinsky.
Chelanga beat him by two seconds and then in the post race interview said that he had been having bad workouts or not doing them.
Solinsky is a fairly well known big time runner. He wasn't overshadowed by Rupp. It was just that he was a 3K and 5k guy. But making a "debut" in the 10K that wasn't very tactical is not that big of deal. To me thats like being impressed with Buddy Guy playing Cream songs.
65th fastest 10k run:
Wow...I'm still shaking my head in disbelief of this ridiculous milestone for American distance running. Congrats to Solinsky and Rupp, regardless of his bad luck of going for a record, breaking it, and somehow having another American also beating the record and him in the process.
Most would consider winning NCAA titles a pretty big deal. Not you apparently.
Rupp broke the record also...Nothing to be ashamed of.

Why wouldn't the guys getting [lapped] get out of lane 1 for Solinsky. Do the right thing. You are getting lapped.
Many people would disagree that moving out is "the right thing." As long as the lappees aren't running two abreast, the lappers actually are better off running slightly longer around the curves, but being able to keep a rhythm without having to worry about someone's suddenly moving out in front of them.
This mimics the NCAA's (old? current?) rule, which was that those being lapped should maintain their position--and if they *chose* to move out, and hindered anyone, they could get DQed.
I personally didn't get to lap a lot of people BITD, but when I did I was always happy when they just stuck to the curb and let me go around.
There was still a wind out there.
Rupp was pissed that he didn't get any help up front. the 2 Kenyans and Solinsky were letting him do the work and then reaping the benefits.
Hopefully Rupp realizes there are other battles to win. He can still get in some solid training, go over to Europe, and still have a shot at the 5k AR or the 10k AR.
Suffice to say, the fat lady hasn't sung yet and there're other chances for a 2nd go at the 10k AR. Rupp WILL get that 10k AR.
solinskys??? wtf? dudes calves look like lebron james's... how did he run 26:59?
What happened to Famiglietti in that 10k
Just curious, I had heard rumors that Chelanga is going to get US citizenship. Is this true?
If so, with Solinsky, Rupp, Ritz, and Chelanga, is it out of the question for the US to have four Sub-27 10k guys within the next few years?
Amazing stuff here either way.
That list to fastest 10,000m times includes alot of today's best marathoners. These results bode well for future US marathoning!
So I click on Letsrun this morning to see what happened yesterday at 10,000m.
WOW!
Most things in track you can kind of see coming or you understand after the fact.
But this is one of those stunning things that really throws you off.
You always here people say the sport is dying.
No way is the sport dying.
Every running event from 100m to the marathon is having great performances and great stories. And that includes Americans in all of those distances.

You d!ck, did you even read my post? I praised Rupp and Sol.
It was not aimed at your post. Have a closer look.
