That's a good way to get 3rd. How many people win marathons with that strategy? |

Yeah, and faster than Mirga's time last year by one second. Great time, not so great race for Hall. Praise God for him and Meb though...fantastic athletes. |
| Child, please. |

No. Gone are the days of 2:10 marathoners contending.

Hall raised his arms in the last 100 yards when it became clear he wasn't going to pass Merga. Is anyone really going to hold it against Hall that he celebrated the fastest US time ever at Boston, not to mention following up a 1:04 half earlier this year with a 2:08 today? |

sprinting at the end of a marathon increases recovery time, but then it is a race and 2 seconds is nothing over 100y if you kick hard. |

Hall had the second fastest finish at 6:43 to the 6:2x for superman. It looks like he ran his race plan and raced it well; did you count on a CR by almost 100 seconds? The woman's race turn out to be pretty exciting - way ahead - ahead but is the lead shrinking - its coming down pretty fast - leader back on form - closing despite leader back on form - closing fast but just not enough room. |

Hall is not going to win a major marathon ever. take out the kenyans and ethiopians and Hall will win. his running strategy is not good enough to win. people are going to surge and surge and surge and if he is not ready to go with them he will be left behind and it will be too late to catch up. |
