Ryan Hall will win Boston. He now know's the course. Going
out three weeks in advance is really smart. He has been under the radar for this one. I say he will uncork a big one and win.

Top 3.... similar finish to Goucher's last year, but won't be able to out kick one of the Africans.
I say 3rd, though he'll be in the lead at some point of the race. 2:11:06.
I place him 2:12ish, top 5. Because god willed it so.
2:09:59 for 4th place and 1st non-African.
Note: This is 1 second faster than Ritz's PR.
Why was he in such horrible shape a couple months ago at the half marathon? I know he took time off after the fall marathon, but most top elites don't seem to get THAT out of shape.
Before NY, he ran an 18 mile tempo at sub 5 pace in big bear, so like 4:40 pace conversion. all this during a high mileage week...
It just doesn't make sense to me that he couldn't break 64 after several weeks of training after his post marathon break.
Anyway, I think he should run faster than last year, so likely top 3, the specific place depending on how others run.
I predict with 100 meters to go Ryan will be lifted in the air by god almighty and Ryan will assume the position of god on the cross and he will float magically across the line and all the people on the sidelines will kneel down and bow to their new messiah.
It will be a miracle talked about for the rest of recorded history.
2:09:06, first place
2:09:xx
Runs a crummy strategic race, but still manages a top 5, but only out of brutish stupidity.
I like the guy but things haven't been going well as of late so I'm going to say 2:15, maybe 2:20. Hopefully I'm wrong.
i bet he qualifies for trials

he is already qualified for trials. any USA team member in the marathon is automatically qualified for all future marathon trials, so frank shorter billy mills etc. can run if they want to.
my pick for hall in Boston 2nd in 2:08

TRUE.
2.10 for 5th, Hall seems to have become a little stale. He could do with getting back on the track, but then i suppose money talks...
Hall ran 2:09:40 last year, so I say he goes 2:08:30 in 2010.
The problem is that the winner runs 2:07:30.
I predict that Mayeroff sends him some 666 ENERGY DRINK and his runs 2:05 for the win and course record!
its good to see Hall trying something new for Boston, this is a good sign that he has recognised everything wasn't perfect with his previous prep, coming down from altitude early be th change he needs.
I think there is a distinct possibility he will withdraw before the start. His recent half marathon time tells me there is something wrong. He also looks a little heavier in a couple recent photos.
If he starts there is a chance he will DNF and if he finishes I would guess it will be in the 2:12-2:13 ballpark. I think this would have been a good time for him to get off the marathon-every-six-months schedule to recharge the batteries before the Olympic cycle starts in earnest next year.
I hope this does not make me look like a hater. I wish him the best. I hope I have misread the signals I think I am seeing.
After seeing Meb win the NY marathon. Ryan was pissed that he didn't get the limelight. You'll see Ryan run the American record and just shy of the world record. He'll win.
Hall's problem is not how fast he will run.Infact on the day he could run a low 2.08 and still not win.The problem is that the elite field has elites who are slightly more talented than Hall. There will be an Ethiopian or a Kenyan in front of Hall no matter how fast he runs .Hall could win however if the first half is really slow and they all start playing cat and mouse games with each other, this is bacause Hall has more expirience than most of those guys.He has been in the olympics,London twice,NYC and even Boston itself so he can race if it is a tactical affair but as far as talent and ability goes unfortunately the east africans are ahead of him.
