seriously? same deal as last year except there was no Craig Miller to fend off. I can't believe everyone just let him get away like that. Props to him though, he has the breakaway down pat.

and he is 8 years older then the second place runner mac fleet!
This was such a horrible mile. Congrats to Lee, everyone else ... c'mon, all 3:59 and 3:58 guys sitting around and running 2:02, 2:02 for a 4:04. Lame.
Everyone tired from running multiple events. The milers who won (men/women) just ran the mile.
Fleet didn't run the DMR, did he?

You trying to tell me that Hasay could have beaten Browning had she not have raced yesterday?
We're talking different class here.
I would say that Jeff See at least tried to go with him. Paid for it at end, but good to know someone else thought about winning.
Hasay could have beaten Browning easily.
Deal with it, she is really good.
Also, Wheating would have DESTROYED Andrews if not for having to kill it in the DMR the night before.

dude thats bullsh** and you know it. Andrews won because he was mentally together and wheating wasn't. Don't blame the dmr for wheatings woes, he just wasn't mentally there and got beat because of it.
No, YOU are bullsh**!!! Wheating ran an incredible DMR last night and nearly won the 800 today. Fleet ran a greaat come from behind race against a more experienced runner, but he showed that he is the future of the mile. Yes, let's not lie about it when some of the guys are fresh and others have had the strength sapped from the day before. Andrews was fresh, but good for him. They all did a fabulous job, Andrews, Wheating, Fleet... and you truly are BULLSHI**
Unimpressed with Lee, in fact i strongly dislike him. Dude is like 26 years old, like 7 years older than Fleet, i hope he could beat him. I love when Fleet references that in his flotrack interview. Get out of the NCAA Lee, you clearly are not good enough to be competetive as a pro, so stop beating up on guys 5 years younger than you.
Nah, I think the other guy is right about Wheating. You could see he had a lot more left in him. During a couple of his moves, he got blocked by guys (not on purpose, but it happens indoors when you're trying to come from behind) and so he just waited patiently. He never really pushed. He waited to kick until the front straight, and you can see the effort coming off the curve. If he'd have pushed earlier he could have won. It was a tactical mistake that got him beat.
But it wasn't really a mistake. Things just worked out PERFECTLY for Andrews. Andrews won because he wasn't expecting to win. He went out really! conservatively. It simply would have been too dangerous for Wheating to sit that far off the leaders, because what if Jones ran 1:46 high. In that case Andrews would have had no shot at the win. Running for a high finish is a lot different than running to win. Thats why the 800 is so unpredictable, you have no idea what is going to happen to those fast starters in the second 400, they might hang on they might fade badly, and if you want to win you must at least keep them in check.

Fleet definitely showed his potential, I agree. But personally my money is on Patrick Casey. He's still making huge improvements.
Pat Casey ran a more aggressive race than Fleet, and evidenced his superior racing style. Hell, he led the thing for the first bit as a 19 year old. Pat also has the Montana factor; meaning he has largely been untested for most of his career. Look for a sub 3:39 come outdoors from this guy.
lee was the class of the field, obviously, fleet's got a great future, and the field was weakened by the absence of Centro and Fernandez, as well as Wheating.

Classy. I'm more unimpressed with Fleet.

Lee is 25, and Mac is 19. He's less than 6 years older than he is. He's def one of the older guys, but let's not over do it. Lee is getting better each year and has some skills. He adds to the Ncaa's competitiveness, and legally, so good for him.
