We all know their credentials. No need to elaborate. The record is going down. Whose gonna do it first?

Before the grammar police arrive - Who's going to break it first?
my prediction
Kaki will break the world record at an invitational type meet. but at worlds his string of bad luck continues and Rudisha wins the World Champion title.
you heard it here first

Also another thing to consider. Who is more successful at World Championships and Olympics?

They both suck. But Rudisha breaks it first, Kaki runs 1:41.5 ish
That´s what everybody said when Borza ran 1,42 at age 20.
Future tense. Who will be more successful at World Championships and Olympics?

Rudisha is on FIRE!!! He will break the record this year by September. He has learned from two years of making mistakes which cost him the titles that were for him to lose. On world championships, Rudisha is finally the king on the throne. Let him who has guts face him...

I don't think either will break it this year. Neither seem equipped enough in the endurance department to break Kip's WR. I don't see Kaki running any faster than 45.7 in the 400m (which was what Coe was running in 81), and neither of them can approach sub 3:30 in the 1500m. Both Kipketer and Coe could have run under 1:41 anyway.
If Rudisha & Kaki avoid injuries, have several well paced attempts at it (pacemaker staying in front to 600m)while both running in the same race, then maybe they can get within half a second. If I had to chose the winner, I'd pick Rudisha. But he's going to have to run 1:40.5 before I'd put him on the same level as Coe or Kipketer.
You are a moron.
also, Kipketer had a bunch of performances consistently around 1:42 before he finally broke Coe's record. Rudisha's 1:42 last year is for now, an outlier, while Kaki's been more consistent with overall faster times. He would therefore be more likely to do it, although I don't think either will.
Rudisha.
He's got the foot speed necessary and seems to be improving. Pacemaking will be very important.
eh ?
rudy ran 1'42-flat with no effective wabbit ( worth 1s/lap or 0.5s for between 200m - 400m ) - it sped off 10m in front, offering no drafting - losing 0.5s right there
he ran on a windy day worth, another 0.2 - 0.3s at worst for
1'41.2 - 1'41.3 shape
right there & probably quicker as his splits weren't great
as kip shows, the need for 3'30 is drivel
cruz, 3y later than coe running same time, shows 3'30 requirement is further drivel
coe maybe 1'41.3 back in '81
kip maybe 1'40.2 in '97 based on evenening zurich 48.5/52.7
moron
rudy is within 0.1 - 0.2s from last year
& rudy ran it effectively solo - no need for wabbit beyond 400 for him
when rudy runs intrinsically fractionally faster than last year with 1'41.0, i'd put him at same level as coe/cruz
if/when he runs 1'40.0, i'd put him at same level as kip
wow you know everything.
being realistic
on analysis of athletics postings over last 10y, when iaaf bb started (killed 3y ago by jama retards)
i'd say i'm up there in top 50% as far as athletics goes...
ventolin, I hate the way you write.
I think neither will break the WR. Kipketer was either superhuman or on drugs.
None this year. The potential is definitely there...but I would like to see a few more 1:42-1:42.5 performances first.
what is their record head to head
This isn't rocket science. Rudisha ran .9 s off the record. If he runs .91 faster, he will own the record. He doesn't have to run any 1500s or 400s in a certain time to do it. Prior to that performance (Rudisha's), Kaki looked like the future wr holder. Maybe he will fulfill his promise, which seemed even greater than Rudisha's. Coe was probably worth 1:41 flat or slightly better, had he competed at 800m more often against Cram or the like (similarly, Cram could have run faster than 1:42.88 and 2:12.9? (windy) with better comp and more attempts) or been healthy in 1983/4, and I say that because neither one looks flat out in his best efforts.

Borzakovskiy never gave himself a chance to get beyond the 1:42high level due to his insistence on running at the back of the pack. His strategy has not allowed him to improve beyond finishing (sometimes) a little ahead of his competition, whereas I think he had the potential to dominate the 800 like El-G dominated the 1500. He just had to get behind the pacemaker and become accustomed to going through in 49/1:14, even if that meant crashing and burning once or twice in the process. Despite his Olympic Gold, I would consider Yuriy Borzakovskiy one of the biggest unrealised talents on middle distance running.
