With the other colorado guys in there from Mines and Western State, you have 7 of 12 in the mile and 9 of 12 in the 5000. State of CO for the win. Holy crap.
All 6 of their 5k kids graduate... not 1,2, or 3 but all 6. ha ha ha. Way to balence your distance recruiting.
Where has Western State disappeared to? They once swept 1-5 in the 5000m a few years back. Now their only qualifier in the distance events is Donnan in the 5000m and Oh! They are also the last team in the DMR. Quite a drop off in the last 3-4 years.
even more impressive adams has
mile: 6 out of the top 7
5k: 6 out of the top 7, or the top 5 guys
colorado has the top 7 milers
This probably says that ohhh I don't know maybe the SHOULD'NT BE IN D2
because DII sucks. congrats adams state, you have no competition. end thread.
Don't write Western off just yet. They have had some injuries for their top runners, like Pennel (who has not missed a nationals), and even Ahonen has had some injury trouble. Both Donnan and Pennel ran about the same time last year indoors and ended up running sub 14.
As for the DMR. A 9:56 would be in the top 5 times in any other year, it just so happens that the DMR is extremely fast this year. Also they ran that back in early February. Another point is that in the last few years Western has been one of the last teams to make it into nationals for the DMR but have placed in the top spots (3rd and 4th), so they will be there when it counts.
Adams State is running at a very high level right now. The XC team could run Division I, however their other sports can not go DI. It is a very small school in the middle of southern Colorado. They are just very, very good.
They've got plenty for next year. As I recall, in xc they had basically 2 full squads, that if allowed, would have made nationals. I think they're doing just fine. How can you possibly "laugh" at a program with their success? In addition to being faster than you, I'm pretty sure they're better at spelling too.
Correct. Their 2nd squad would have likely made it, but as you’ve inferred, would not have made a trophy position. The xc podium is gonna get turned upside down next fall!
It's called development.
please list your pr
and most d2 runners dont have to peak to qualify for nationals, which leads to slower times
helloooo...anyone notice that the meet is being held at altitude.....same place that the US meet was held at last weekend. ASU has just been given a big advantage.
u got that right. wrote:

Wow, McFly, welcome to the party. Yeah, it's been a big secret that D2 nats are at altitude. The same teams (ASC, Mines, Metro, Western) that dominate the mile/5k rankings (most years) are all at altitude.
is it unusual that they only took 12-13 in almost every men's event, or is that about what they usually take. I was under the impression they usually took more like 14-16
If St. Augustine has an amazing meet they will score between 57 and 61 points. Looks like Adams could blow up and still score 60 in the 8, mile and 5k alone. Plus they have a solid dmr, a decent high jumper and a long jumper.
adams could win every national distance title
DMR: adams vs. mines (metro appears to have lost their anchor)
Mile: 6 adams guys vs. mines guy. should be an adams guy, 4 fresh adams guys
800: graham vs. maybe a metro guy. adams
5k: they should have that one locked up
One of the main reasons the majority of the field is made up of Colorado guys is because they went down to New Mexico and got the huge altitude conversion. Conversions for altitudes need to be seriously looked at and either changed or completely removed. It's a huge advantage for athletes who live and train at altitude to get their times adjusted. They are all great distance runners and several of them would probably still qualify without the altitude conversion, but it creates an uneven playing field.
By the way, they typically take 12-13 per event. The field sizes are only bigger if the next athletes in line are already in the meet in a different event.
absolutely wrong.
not one time in the mile or 5k needed a conversion, all 5k times were run at sea level, and in the mile 4 adams guys autoed without a conversion at UNM, the other two plus the mines guy ran their times at sea level
quit complaining cause the co guys are faster than you
