Schul and Dellinger gold and bronze in '64, in Tokyo, in the mud.
El G 3:26.12
Lagat 3:26.24
June 10, 1966. Nineteen year old Jim Ryun closing in 51 for the 880y WR and the still standing American 800m junior record (even though the USATF list gives him no credit for the yards/meters adjustment).
And, as long as I'm time traveling, I'd bring a video recorder so that the performance would be preserved for history.
Alan Webb's 3:45 1500m time trial. I want to see if that was for real.

You just reminded me, I never f***en saw this. Is it youtoubed?
I love you, letsrun. This truly is f***en remarkable.
Mary Decker vs. Zola Budd
My state xc championship race. I'd tell myself to sit instead of making a move from 800 out only to get kicked past and beat by 2 seconds in the last 200.
Ok you can't go back and change time. So you would just be watching a replay of yourself getting blown away.

Bolt's double in Berlin last year, El Guerrouj vs Lagat in Athens, Coe vs Ovett in Moscow (both the 800 & 1500), Vladimir Kuts in the 10000, Miruts Yifter in Moscow, Mary Decker's Helsinki double, and Rono's 8:05.4 steeple in Seattle...
Oh well, at least I saw three of those races in person...
Probably Pheidippides entering Athens.
any race that my dad ran in high school, circa 1966-1968. he was a sub 4:20 guy, so it'd be fun to watch him.
Well I still want to watch it. It was a group of 10 going into the last half mile, and 3rd place finished 10 seconds behind 2nd place(me).
Daniel Komen's 3000 WR... I would want my memory erased so I could experience the insanely fast opening laps and feel certain that he would fail only to have him make a fool of all of us.
1976 City Jr. High School Finals 800m.
Coe, LA 1984 1500
I've seen it 100 times on tape and man, it gets me going every time
1964 Tokyo 10,000 meter final.
LOOK AT MILLS!!! LOOK AT MILLS!!!
I know that was the commentary for TV replay. But imagine being an American in Tokyo watching that race, and seeing Mills fly past everyone for the Gold.
I like the races with lots of drama in which the disdain between the racers is visible. I would love to see the 2003 WC Steeplechase battle between Kemboi and Shaheen. Also 2007 World XC in Mombasa seems like it would be crazy.
Most of all, I would like to see 1960 Rome Marathon with Abebe Bikila. Barefoot and the first African to win an Olympic distance race.
"If You Could Go Back In Time, What Race Would You Most Want To See Live?"
Probably the ancient Sumerians.
Er...I think I misread the question.
