From what I can tell his only competition should be Bauhs, Vail, Smyth, Arciniaga... maybe a few others.
Not exactly the cream of the us distance crop.
Anyone think there's a chance he'll blow it?
5 days away, and not much talk thus far!!

let me see, no Rupp, Teg, Chris, Torres, Fam, Hall......nope should be a cake walk
Is it a loop course? If so, he'll hang for 1 then take off. Will win by 30+ seconds
Um, have you heard of Bekele dropping out of world cross? Ritz isn't a lock, because you're never a lock when you race--that's why they race.
But no, there's no reason why he won't dominate. He's potentially among the elite cross country racers on the planet, the random assortment of US elites who show up for USXC isn't going to give him much of a problem.
I believe that the course is 6 X 2K loops. Pretty flat.
Yeah, me.

Is the race gonna be live anywhere? Either on tv or the internet? If not is it gonna be shown later on tv?
It could be messy. The forecast calls for a chance of rain from wednesday through friday, and it isnt really getting below freezing at night. When it freezes the ground at Plantes Ferry hardens right up and it runs quite fast, but with the long grass it can get quite slow when its wet and warmer.
why don't we get the cream of the crop running this race in a year without any outdoor world's or Olympics? Running XC in the Winter never hurt Bekele. Why not Solinsky, Rupp, Lagat, et al.? Why not see how high on the podium we could finish?
Agreed. But at the end of the day, they are pros and need to make money and money is made in the summer. If someone offered the team $100k if they finished in the top 3, you'd get the Tegs, Halls, Rupps etc., competing. Though a top 3 would be tough even with those.

He has been having a foot problem, skipped UW indoor because of it so you never know what will happen.
I'm surprised there doing it in Spokane. This time last year, the course would be under two feet of snow.
Max King for the upset.
Hell, if they were doing Maryland this year, it would be under two and a half feet of snow (it was the first week of Feb last year). The USATF just has a northern bias. I think that the 2004 race was over a solid foot of packed snow, and they just got the course cleared back in 2007 in Boulder. So Cal two years ago was a wise call. Then again, the USATF has no control over who bids for their championship events.
Anyone know where the 2011 race is going to be?
pfft...not going to happen
FYI - I see that Tim Nelson is running. He is listed under William Nelson.
