the scoring based upon the current performance list is a little deceiving, Minnesota still has some big dogs waiting in the wings that have yet to put a mark up. Schwecke, McGinnis, and Mead among others

Minnesota scored 146 points last year and didn't lose anybody. Added 17+ polevaulter and a new stud weight thrower (among other things). Hassan is not hurt, but even if he was, Minnesota is too loaded in the field events, multi, and throws!

The battle will be for 2nd; will NOT include the very early peaking IU team. Their distance won't score more than 15 points.

I like Wisconsin for the surprise 2nd.

If Hassan is hurt, only Rombough (at home) will break up the 4 Badgers in the 3k and 5k.

Wisconsin has had some better-than-average coaching, methinks. Also, Minnesota has routinely been the team that I have worried about most at Conference because they seem to get the most out of their athletes at the meet. I do not have enough observations from the new crew, but clearly 140+ points to dominate last year speaks towards a continuation. I am not sure that OSU has systematically done a good job of peaking with the exception of some guys like their 1500 guy!

Wisconsin will not wrack up as many points as they did when they pulled it out of the hat in Madison a couple years ago by getting something like 90 points at 600m and above. On a fast track they UW DMR could go sub-9:30 (probably won't, especially in a strategic DMR race) but with Penn State that might not even be enough (and I do not know the composition of other teams either).

I dont see how minnesota loses. But is should very close for 2nd-5th.

I would say Gary had good weekend last weekend.

Leslie 4:03, Balyo 4:04, Green 8:14/14:21, White 1:48, and that doesn't include Jeff See or transfer from Miami who both race this weekend at Meyo or 2 pros Huling and Olinger who both opened with 4:00 at IU. I don't think Meyers trains with Gary anymore?

PSU - way more middle distance but NCAA leading

IU - Milers and 3000 guys are hot along with 13:48 5k

Wisconsin - 3:58 and 4 guys under 8:08

Penn State should be mentioned with the 600, 800, DMR, shot, high jump.

There is always Wisconsin with their distance runners. They will get 50 points with just the 3k/5k and throw in Miller/Bolas for top 5 in mile for 60 points in 3 events!

You are wrong about Illnois, they will not be bottom feeders. I look for them to place among the top three. McRaven has not run his best distance guys yet. And Turke still has some surprizes up his sleeve. They will beat OSU

and Indiana.

Wisconsin got almost no points in the distance events last year. They'll get 30-40 points from the distance crew this year which adds to their score and takes away from others. I think you'll be surprised how good Wisconsin is going to do, they'll be the sleeper for the title.

Especially when they get Withrow back. Bank on it.

Bottom line - is Mead healthy enough or not? That's 20 points and things just actually got interesting.

Badgers will roll easily. Not just distance with 200, hurdler, multi, etc. The sprinters are starting to take off from Wiscosnin.
