Can we please get past expressing things backward? I mean, I could care less about Rupp but irregardless of this we could at least learn to express ourselves in a manner that makes sense.

Try: Those fans can't hit a 63 mph pitch with no movement, let alone a 93 mph fastball with movement.

Let's see... first rust buster of the year at altitude and probably at least worth a 1:52 at sea level in an event that's nowhere near his specialty. Yeah, pretty horrible folks...

It actually is. Would this ever have happened to Kennedy, Salazar, Ritz, Meb, TWill, Virgin, etc.? Not a chance. What is even the point of having Rupp race 800m at altitude right now? I'd expect something like this from Webb during his Raczko years.

The point is to give him experience racing on the track where nationals will be held.

Good point, I forgot about needing to rate the venue for Rupp Certification.

You seemed to have missed the "I could care less".

And it never occurred to you that these were intentional?!? Oh, the irony indeed!
oh yeah, you FAIL.

Why would you intentionally put those in a post where you also sincerely correct someone? It winds up being a mixed message.

I totally agree. The time he ran and the place he finished don't really matter given this is not his specialty and it is early in the year. The only thing that might concern a fan of Rupp is how he lost. And if it is true he was sick then why the heck did he race? What was there to gain?

fdsafdsfsdfasdf wrote:

It's not that Rupp lost, it's that the winner over came about a 2-3 stride deficit to outkick Rupp by a large margin (in and 800). Rupp just let him go, he seriously pussed out/lost in a head to head race with a kid who is a freshman walk-on.

Sure it's not his distance, however he should be able to run with more heart than that. If you run races to "tune up" stay at home and time trial, don't half ass a race just because the field is "weak."

Rupp ran 1:49 last year indoor. 1:54 should be easy no matter what condition he's in.

That makes sense!

One bad/average race doen't mean much especially being not his main distance.

What is the pr of the guy who beat him?

Imagine being that kid no one ever heard of before. And he gets to say he beat Galen Rupp. So what if it's an 800. Today, he is a man. Tonight he at least gets a had job.

You know when I first read this I couldn't figure out a "had job". I thought, he's gonna take someone else's job? Then...Hand! Oh I get it but think about it...How many chicks say...OHH you beat G Rupp, oh I'm puttin out then!

Wait, how many girls have even heard of Rupp?

Chill, y'all. He's pro now. Good on him for showing up to work even if he's illin'. Felt sour, picked the easier of the two races he'd entered, made it competetive, stayed out of trouble, lived to fight another day. Organizers happy they got their marquee. No worries.

Agreed. Now that he's pro, he gets paid to show up sick or healthy. Had he bagged out and not run at all claiming he was sick everyone would be jumping on him for not fulfilling his paycheck. It's a lose / lose situation when a pro is sick / injured.

He'll be just fine. This race means nothing.

Most everyone who posts on here has no idea what really happened. I am the meet director for the past weekends meet. Galen was indeed ill and when I spoke to him prior to the race I was surprised that he even got to the starting line. Galen was polite, well-mannered, and probably shouldn't have raced. But he did. Also, Coach Salazar was appreciative, and not anything like what people on this site say about him. Very cordial and polite. It probably would have been easy for Galen to just bag the race and not run, but I have a lot of respect for what he did. I know there are many people who do not like Galen for whatever reason they choose, but if you were in Albuquerque on Saturday I believe you would think differently.

Thanks.

Why do the times we run matter? If he ran poorly then he deserves to be criticized by anyone. I guess you think its wrong that people criticize Dwight Howard for being a poor free throw shooter. After all most people aren't a quarter of the basketball player he is. I'm guessing you think its wrong when people ripped A - Rod for his poor performances in the playoffs. Those fans can't hit a 93 mph fastball with movement, let alone a 63 mph pitch with no movement. If thats truly the case then fine that's what you believe. Otherwise you are hypocrite.
