I like running in circles.
Great!
thanks. appreciate it
Is it possible to cram any more idioms, cliches and tired memes into 3 minutes?
Perhaps the best original quote on this message board came from Portland Runner: "Rap music: Kudos to the genius who came up with this genre! It's so simply brilliant. Take a typical junior high school locker room conversation -- tough talk, juvenile sexual fantasies, obsession with material goods, and establishing a social hierarchy -- and set it to beats."
Seriously though, it was fun listening to.
was that a burn, malmo? it was disguised somewhat...
either way, I agree with Portland runner. I am however, an artist who was also a runner. I felt like combining the two ideas (running and rap) was something original.
Originality is sometimes hard to come by, especially in 2010.
That was awesome! I really liked "4 minute mile"
I <3 "race card". every word was true

And set it to beats often stolen, lifted, or sampled from someone else's actual ability.
i robbed someone at gunpoint for those beats.
Really good! I was expectecting corny/poorly produced crap, but this was quite the opposite.
Great work!

As a musician, I'd love to support your effort here, but...
4 minute mile - Overall I hate it. The ONLY saving grace is that at least you're adding humor to it..."You are very special because YOU are who you are." That's pretty funny. Any rap song though about running or training for running just falls WAY short...it's just the subject matter. It's like having a rap song about raising pet turtles or eating your favorite candy. Just doesn't work. I DO like the little flute thing in there though, but basically the two-chord rapping...nope...can't stomach it.
I listened to a couple of the others, and my overall impression is the same. Rap is supposed to be either tough or cool, and as much as I love running, it just isn't tough or cool...not in the way that lends itself to a rap song.
All that said, I can tell you put some effort into it, and it could have been WAY worse. Change the subject matter OR make it ONLY humorous, and within that terrible genre of "music", I suppose it wouldn't be horrible. As it is though, I'd rather stick a Tabasco-soaked finger in my eye than listen to another minute of it.
I will be honest with you, this is terrible. The only white rapper who is going to make it is Asher Roth and that is because he is actually witty, funny, and cocky as hee=ll for a normal white dude. What do you sound like? A mix between Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer. This is awful and in 4 minute mile your attempt at humor is... humourous.
flagpole, so glad you and malmo listened.
I am happy for the feedback (mixed reviews I see besides you two). As i said, i wanted to combine the two concepts because it was a different approach. I am not a gangster rapper nor do I flash or "swag surf." these are raps with a hint of comedy. That said, if you listened to some of the others, they are not ALL about running.
I will not force you to endure the Tabasco eye. I will probably rap about a pet turtle though.
yes yes ya'll

LOL @ MC Hammer comparison but, ehh, Vanilla Ice is pretty cliche. I will say your attempt at humor, haha, was also humourous.
Flagpole, your band is awful. OP, much better than I was ever expecting. Not awesome but not the pile of shit I thought it would be.

I'll admit to being biased AGAINST rap though as I hate all of it except Run DMC. You do seem to have some sense of rhythm, and your rap voice isn't horrible. Like I said, if you made it ALL humorous, or not do the running, it would be better. I did listen to a couple of the non-running ones, and I just didn't get into them though.
Nothing is easier to fail at than rap music...you have to be a SUPER ALPHA MALE to make it work because you have to make people want to hear what you're saying...it's ALL about the lyrics...the beats are secondary, as opposed to rock or pop music where the lyrics are secondary to the music.
I did dig the production though.
These are about as good as any random youtube video parody.

Perfect response! Awesome.
I liked them. People have an idea in their head of what they want music to sound like or think it should sound like. You will always fall short if compared to someone's idea of what you should sound like. But if judged on its own merits you can see how good it is.
Liked the tracks and the beats, keep it up.
To whomoevever's hating on sampling, I don't understand why it's okay to play a guitar someone else made through an amp someone else made into a microphone somebody else made, but taking sounds someone else made and rearranging/mashing them up is wrong. Open your mind a bit.

Umm...do you really think that playing a guitar made by someone else is the same as taking SOUNDS made by someone else? It's not.
