so did german not run??
has anyone else been watching duck hunting for five minutes without realizing they won't be coming back for more results?
I think she was just probably having a bad day or the fast early pace got to her. She tried to make it look overly dramatic and fall and roll around on the ground, but then realized she still had to finish to score points for the team. From the way she was kicking in strong, there was know way she was really in as bad of shape she was making it look by falling onto the ground. If she truly was uncontrolably falling over, she would not have been ablr to get up and run over another mile and kick in just as fast as everyone around her.
i think it was an appropriate segway after oregon gets beat by osu
OSU won with 127 points. Oregon 2nd with 143. Still waiting for more results.

Watching her kick home unfortunately leads me to think she gave up during the race. Maybe she wasn't actually feeling good, but the collapsing? If you collapse, I'm sorry, but you don't get back up to finish with everyone and kick home. I've run myself to collapse twice. There was no getting up. i have had only the utmost respect and admiration for jenny b, and I damn sure hope I'm wrong about this, but it really does look like she just gave up and fell down like she was distraught over the fact she wasn't going to win. Damn i hope i'm wrong.
Agreed, and I also hate to say it. If it's truly the body that gives out, there's no way to balance on two legs again, let alone run. You can't get up, let alone run.
I have experienced periods of mental self-doubt during a race that were so strong -- self-doubt so strong that my stride broke up -- perhaps that happened here? She and Kujiken both went out too aggressive, and when Barringer started hurting, combined with Kujiken pulling ahead, it overwhelmed her. It wasn't how she had envisioned this race playing out, and that did something to her mentally.
I do give her props for picking up and finishing though for her team. Once she was down, she could have just stayed there, been a drama queen, and solidified any excuse (this is assuming the issues were all mental). But instead she finished for her team, and that's worth something.

i agree....props to her for not giving in completely and finishing. must have been a very humbling experience.
Reminded me a little of Flanagan in her junior year (I think) when whe just stopped with 1000 or less to go, but did finish.
Where will results be posted?
seriously the hunting coverage after XC was perfect on so many levels. duck hunting, the hunter orange matches the OSU singlets. . . on and on
JB may have gone out too fast, but IMO she was markedly superior to anyone else in the field, so even if she blew up for that reason she could still have won. Also you don't suddenly almost stumble like she did that first time. I suspect something injurous did happen for a while, but receded after a while allowing her to finish.
The collapse I cannot fathom at all - made no sense. As has been said, no-one recovers from a genuine implosion like that.
Pure entertainment, though.

They announced in the broadcast ncaa.com, so I'm guessing that associated championship website.

It's responses like this that explain why Suzy Favor and Jenny B do stuff like this, panic and take a dive. If they had just faded and finished behind expectations, nobody would give them "props." But take a dive and get back up and crawl to the finish, and suddenly you're "heroic." Give me a break.

We need to make a compilation of all the ridiculous crap that was said today. Maybe send it in a letter to Versus. Or front page on Letsrun
Hear ya! This is a new low for Letsrun, and That's saying something.
followed someone else's link to pictures and found this one.....you sure Josh Cox didn't blow his load on this guy???

I'm 100% certain that if the NCAA let the athletes chose the source for the coverage, they would pick Flotrack or Letsrun and the coverage would be a million times better. We have every right to criticize Versus because it could be better and if the NCAA didn't give versus a monopoly on the coverage and block others from providing coverage the sport would be better off. End of Story.

She could have stopped, but she finished for her team standings...I give her props for not giving up completely. I am not calling her a hero; so stop looking into my statement and making it a controversy.

Actually, I would give Jenny B. props for finishing in the middle of the pack, and I would have had more respect for her if she had done that less the dramatics. But given the dramatics, it still shows some maturity to cut the BS, get up, and finish.
Most respect: no bs dramatics, just slog it in
Some respect: start dramatics, then cut the BS, and slog it in.
No respect: dnf due to BS

A team that should have been DOMINANT on paper almost got upset by a team that should have been considered lucky to be in the top 5 after losing two top 10 finishers and struggling mid-season. Maybe if the hunting show was about a bunch of hunters who barely survive an attack by ducks, despite their guns, you'd have a better analogy.
Also, a segue is a transition, usually musical in nature. A segway is a scooter for fairy-boys.
pretty sure angela bizarri was a little overcome with excitement/disbelief at winning the NCAA title. She is usually extremely confident and polished when speaking.........try winning an NCAA title and see how excited you are!
