There is no such thing as "rights" as you want to define them. Societies that defined certain "rights" have tended to survive (by avoiding infighting and establishing trade, for example) and societies that have defined other "rights" have failed. That is how the definitions of "rights" thrown about in debate came to be; they have no foundation other than their own historical success. The question we should be asking is not whether health care is a "right" but whether it makes us stronger as a nation.

Government says 'do what we say or suffer.' That sounds more like jungle law to me than 'don't make me pay for other peoples' stuff, not matter what that stuff my be.'

Rights are things you can do, not things you can get.

Something you get has to come from someone else, thus it must be TAKEN from someone else. Being hungry isn't a valid legal excuse to steal bread... which doesn't mean we should ignore the poor or leave them to starve, but it does mean we can't hold people to different standards based on their needs.

I just had a seizure and have been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Too bad that if I lived in any other society in the same income bracket as the USA that I'd be assured that health care would be available if I was unable to continue to have a productive life in the way I'd lived in the past. Instead, I'm 2 1/2 years from qualifying for retirement and don't know if I'm going to have jack shit because we're more worried about corporate profits than taking care of our citizens.

Rights are not political constructs and healthcare never has been and never will be a right in any country on Earth regardless of what its lawmakers say.

Neither are fire departments. But we fund them anyway.

If you can't understand this, you don't deserve to be an American. This, Bill of Right, along with the clarification from the Constitution undeniably construes the Rigt to Healthcare.

Section 8 - Powers of Congress

"General Welfare of the United States" refers to the people who make up the United States (its citizens). So, I agree that this is where the right to Health care is provided for in the Constitution.
