That's a fantastic story. Thanks for posting that. Too bad that Mohammed had to drop out. We all like an underdog. Hopefully, their recent success will spur more success down the road. but losing 4 seniors is going to be tough to replace.
Amazing that a kid who came through so much has achieved so much. As hard as it probably was trying to take care of his siblings by the age of 10, that discipline has most certainly helped him out in the long run.
wow, having for kids by age 19, with the first at 13? damn, control yourself or get on the pill. thats pathetic. great story though, seems like he'll be a pretty good runner
thanks for sharing! Great story
Did you notice Craig Virgin made a comment(see below)?
Craig Virgin about 3 hours ago.
Just got done reading nice interview with Jeff Schirmer. I have been following Jeff since he was a junior in high school and am familiar with his story. I was pleased to watch his great race for 2nd place at regionals...and believe that he can achieve his dream of a top 10 finish at nationals. If not, then he will be very close... I will be there to help cheer him on. Not only is he a good runner...from SIUC...he is just another great example of the kind of running talent that comes out of the state of Illinois. There will be several of them at Terre Haute on Monday. Jeff didn't get around much in H.S., but he only lived about 15 minutes from me.....the whole area is proud of him! Too bad for Mohamed and the team finish. Run a great race for them. There will be a lot of people pulling for you on Monday. But, we gotta work on your diet, Don Kardong and Bill Rodgers would be proud of you! If you only knew who they were......
Craig Virgin always comments on my interviews...when they're about Illinois runners! :)
I'm just playing! I'm glad he graced my interview with his thoughts!
Are these being deleted?

hey douche....this is the part of America that they dont tell you about on tv. you do realize that no one probably told her mother about the pill...in fact she may not even have had any kind of education so did realize what would happen to her should she have sex.
I dont really blame you for your thoughts though. Given the amount of money some people have - those that earn $50 - $100k think they are poor. Little do they realize what it is really like at the bottom. No food, no roof, no education.
Good luck tomorrow Jeff.
