Attending a US university – HELP, could anybody tell me what companies offer good medical insurance?

Health insurance companies are quite regionalized in the US. Where will you be?

If you're going to Vandy, stick with the student health plan. All services are provided through the university medical center, which is one of the finest in the south. If you're attending UT Knoxville, I suspect the situation is probably the same given that UT also has a medical center.

The Military's health coverage is unbeatable.

I believe that most students can be covered through the university. That was an option for me.

The student plan will be fine. If you are perfectly healthy now I would go with that. Plus when you go to student health it is much easier when you are on the student plan then when you are on a different insurance.

as others have said, i definitely recommend going with the student plan. look it over carefully first, but it should be your best bet.

I'm pretty sure that under your student visa requirements, you have to be on your universities international student health plan. call the international center at your university to check this. at my school it is required to pass the Immigration requirements that the university screening takes us through during our compulsory international orientation.

in other words, do NOT go with a private company when your government funded university can provide you health care. but by no means should we have a public health care plan to cover all who want it, right, repos?
