I was on the NCAA website looking for answers and what I do get is that there are 2 regions and the nationals meet is going to play host to both regional and then the next week nationals. But i couldnt find how many people make nationals - i think its based on performance lists right?
can anyone explain to this idiot how its going to work?

Top 48 marks in every event including 10k and decathlon qualify to attend regional meet.
Once there, the top 12 advance to the NCAA meet.
There are no at-large bids to regionals (conference champion automatic bid is no longer existent).
There are no at-large bids to Nationals (previous performances do not keep you from having to be top 12).
The Regionals are at Texas and NCA&T, I think, but I am not certain. There are not many places that can host that many athletes in that many events over several days. Running the PV competition is going to be a real struggle, especially if there is any trouble with one of the runways or if the nature of the runways and the wind make one preferable to the other.
Are they going to have multiple heats of the Steeple and take the top makes by time?
ugh - this was a REALLY bad idea probably cooked up by some people that want to do away with Regionals altogether.
