I'm thinking of taking a trip to Toronto this summer with wife and two kids, as Ive heard good things. If there's anyone whos been there or knows, could you give me an idea of things to do/see or even if its worth a trip at all

I am a bit confused by this one. You ask if Vancouver is nice for a vacation but then state that you are thinking about taking a trip to Toronto. Which one is it? I have been to both cities and think they both have good points. Which one are you thinking of visiting?

He meant the province of Toronto. Vancouver being just one of the many cities therein. I hope he brings his sled dogs and likes sleeping an igloo.

Toronto - no

OK- which one for summer vacation
If you go to Vancouver in the winter, you can ski nearby and you can also go to Whistler. If you go in the summer, you could also go to Vancouver Island and Victoria. There is also rock climbing if you like that.
Personally I think Vancouver is a better location for a summer vacation. I just took a vacation there this past summer (end of July) and had a good time. I spent a few days in Vancouver and then went out to Vancouver Island for a week. I really enjoyed the island. There is a lot of outdoors stuff to do on the island and Victoria is a great city. The fact that Vancouver/Vancouver Island are on the island gives access to fishing and some beach stuff. I would highly recommend the Vancouver area.
I had a great vacation in Vancouver ten years ago. Stayed at the Sylvia Hotel right on English Bay. From there it was like a 10-minute run along a bikepath to Stanley Park, and then if you headed out the other side of the hotel you were a 10-minute walk from tons of good ethnic dining options.

Well you were close on this one. Vancouver is in British Columbia (BC) and Toronto is in ONTARIO (Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, is also in Ontario)
