What is your favorite western (movie) of all time?
What is your favorite western (movie) of all time?
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Not saying it's the best, just that it's my favorite.
As much as I like a lot of the older Westerns, 3:10 to Yuma has become my favorite.
Outlaw Josey Wales, Shane, The Magnificent Seven...imo.
Red River....the Duke, Monty Clift and Walter Brennan star with directing by Howard Hawks.
I like that one where there is this bad guy who leads a band of bad guys. The bad guys ride through town stealing and shooting their six shooters while women scream and men fall off roofs. Then the sheriff forms what he calls a "posse", and they go after the bad guys, killing them all one by one until only the head bad guy is left, and he gets a special killing by the sheriff. There were lots of horses and mountains in that one.
Whichever one that was, I like that one.
Once Upon a Time in the West (masterpiece #1)
The Gud The Bad The Ugly (Masterpiece #2)
High Plains Drifter (enjoyable)
Haven't seen much else tbh.
A second for The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
I don't know whether you'd really count it as a Western, but Lonesome Dove has a lot of cowboys and is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Duvall is terrific as Augustus McRae.
Blazing Saddles!!
Good / Bad / Ugly, no stranger to humor itself, #2.
Outlaw Josey Wales
I was glad to see I'm not alone as others also named this movie.
Outlaw Josey Wales is great as well as The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Most John Wayne movies are good but I particularly like McLintock and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence. Tombstone is also very good and I like Joe Kidd for nothing else other than Louis Chama's response to his girlfriend's opinion of what he should do. "I don't care what you think. "I take you along for cold nights and days where there is nothing to do, not to hear you talk."
Hang em High
Any of the dollars trilogy (fistfull of dollars, for a few dollars more, the good the bad and the ugly)
a second for Lonesome Dove, terrific movie
The Quick and the Dead w/ Gene Hackma, and Leonardo DiCaprio as Billy the Kid. Excellent roles.
Lonesome Dove is a fantastic novel. Never sat for the whole movie.
High Noon
Unforgiven
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Mclintock
Tombstone
Depends on what you consider to be a "western movie." If it fits into the category, "McCabe & Mrs. Miller" is tops on my list.
paint your wagon - western, musical, comedy. clint eastwood and lee marvin sing. it doesn't get any better than this. hell, best movie of all time.
Magnificent 7
From differnt ends of the spectrum...
The Searchers
Unforgiven
No Country for Old Men.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
and Young Guns, actually. (Emelio Estevez is pretty good as Billy the Kid)
I haven't seen too many westerns though as they don't really interest me much.
Oh, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
